Why the money’s now betting on Rubio

We can talk all we like about national polls and Iowa polls and New Hampshire polls, and Ben Carson and Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.

But among the bookmakers, there’s only one hot bet right now, and it’s Marco Rubio.

Florida’s junior senator has surged into a commanding lead in the betting for the Republican nomination for president following last week’s strong showing in the CNBC debate.

Bookmakers are now giving Rubio an astonishing 40% or better chance of becoming the nominee — nearly four times as high as they were rating him just three months ago, before the debates began.

And they’re giving him a 25% chance of winning the election for president, up from barely 6% a few months ago.

Memo to Trump: keep an eye on Rubio!

Trump needs to keep Carson in the game. Carson is sucking up RINO voters who have given up on Bush & Walker and Carson is taking more votes from Rubio and other RINO's, than Trump. Keeping Carson in the game keeps Rubio under control.

Trump should focus on Rubio. He is the most dangerous to Trump, once Carson falters. And Carson will falter when his negatives (Medicare, Amnesty, Mal-practice suits, SDA) are carpet bombed in Ads.

Money’s on Rubio because Jeb “can’t fix it.” Rubio is the only Republican left in the pack that might have a shot at getting moderate conservatives to vote for him next year.

Once again, the establishment is wrong.

Probably wouldn't cost much to skew the odds in a thin market like this. Don't mean nuthin'.

Even Jeb's got him in his fantasy campaign pool.

Rubio, the man child who thought shooting down Russian planes in Syria was a good idea last month. No thanks.

ORLANDO —

Donald Trump is dominating in our exclusive Florida Decides presidential poll released Tuesday, both among his fellow Republican candidates and likely Democratic challengers in a head-to-head general election.

Here are some of the main highlights of the Bay News 9 / News 13 Florida Decides Poll, conducted via telephone from Wednesday, Oct. 28 through Sunday, Nov. 1.

The poll found 37 percent of Floridians likely to vote in the Republican primary on March 15 said they would vote for Trump if the primary were held today (View Results: GOP Primary â–¼).

Trump had a large, 20 percent lead over his closest runner-up, Ben Carson, who got 17 percent support from likely Republican voters. Not far behind Carson was Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, with 16 percent.

We asked our Republican political analyst, former U.S. Rep. Lou Frey, what makes Trump a Florida favorite, overpowering both Rubio and former Gov. Jeb Bush in their home state.

“I don’t understand how he’s gotten so many votes, actually, in Florida, but I think he’s earned them. He’s worked hard at it,” Frey said.

The Bush plan was ‘leaked’ to indicate they have some dirt on Rubio regarding financial matters, including a home foreclosure.

No mention of the status of the boat.

I am in no shape or form pro-Rubio. He is as bad as Bush on amnesty to illegals, and that is my top issue. I want even LEGAL immigration of low skilled, low financed and senior immigrants reduced.

Guess the bookmakers are establishment types, betting on voter manipulation. They’ve probably made a fortune doing this in the past.

meaningless attempt at manipulation of voting public. just like bush gore 2000 early on election night when large money came in on gore to the point where he was a 2:1 favorite bush. all things considered it doesn’t take much in terms of betting money to sway these odds. the politicos know this and know they can get a good bang for their buck to influence susceptible voters from either not voting or voting for the favorite.

I don’t want the government to “fix” anything anymore. I want the government to get the hell out of the way.

Given that Rubio is an establishment candidate, I sure they are thrilled to hear your eval.
