“He’s out of touch with the mood of the GOP base.”

Yup!

This must have been after kasich embraced illegals. They keep underestimating where the country is on this issue.

I am so conservative that I make Reagan look like a socialist

Yeah, me too....but I support McConnell, Boehner, Arlen Specter and anyone with an R after their name.

Good way to change the subject, by the way. The issue was Kasich in the Republican primary, and you changed that to say you will vote for Rinos over a Dem. The issue was your support of Kasich over Trump.

Those days of supporting the Republicans are over for me. If the takeover of the RNC does not occur in this election cycle, then the Republican party will lose this election, and be done forever. There will be a split along conservative/progressive lines. It will be a bloodbath. I predict that if Bush or Rubio are the nominees, the GOP will lose the Senate, and the House will be in jeopardy. The base will not show up. You are not the base. You are on the progressive side. Which is odd for someone who has been here from the beginning.

I am on the progressive side of NOTHING and the title progressive is misleading at best. I am 76 years old, a lifetime Republican, except for the time I voted for Kennedy, son of a Teamster father and union officer mother (machinist) who could see reality at a very early age.

That being said, I am first and foremost a realist...Romney would have been a better president than Obama....McKain better also, George Bush Jr was a president for the times...his entire administration had to be based on the 911 attack. I understand the weaknesses of the Republican party, but I have NO TIME AT ALL for those who sit home and don't vote because their favorite candidate didn't win the nomination.

Saying you are conservative, and being conservative, are two different things.

You could be conservative and vote for Romney or even McCain, if you supported a conservative in the primaries, and were left with the choice of those guys or Obama. I was in that camp. Boy was it hard to vote for those two. But I did. I also knew that there would be millions of the base who could not let their disdain for their party's candidate overcome their fear of the other side's candidate. And so we lost.

In this election, I do not believe you can be conservative and support Kasich in the primaries. Or anyone other than Trump, Cruz or Carson. The rest are shills for the elite, playing a role. Especially Kasich. And Kasich is more of a proven lib than even Jeb. He's governing like Christie. He's a progressive. And you support him. That makes you.....conservative????

Carson, unfortunately, has no chance whatsoever of being the nominee, Trump won't get past Iowa because he is not about to sit in peoples living rooms, drink hot chocolate, and discuss politics with 25 people....Caucus state!

Cruz would be more than O.K. by me, but I'd MUCH rather have a governor than another 1 term senator.....like we have now.

What you seem to be saying is that Kasich is your guy at this stage in the game. And that makes you a progressive, part of the progressive wing of the Republican party, the wing that controls the RNC and is controlled by the donor class. You can claim to be conservative all you want, you are a progressive. Or a useful idiot. Or an RNC plant. Given your longevity here, I doubt that you are a plant. And you don't seem like a useful idiot. So, you are just a liberal Republican who has been here a long time. Not a conservative, don't kid yourself. Jeb Bush and Boehner claim to be conservative, too.

I am so conservative that I make Reagan seem like a socialist. First term senators make TERRIBLE presidents, and most, not all, governors make decent ones. They have rum things, school systems, legislatures, police agencies, taxes, payrolls, unions...whatever.....senators have voted yes or no on other peoples ideas.

That means Trump, with decades of executive experience, would qualify as a good candidate.

I am so conservative that I make Reagan seem like a socialist.

You keep saying that, but it is objectively untrue. You support Kasich over Ted Cruz, Ben Carson or Donald Trump. Your reasoning? Cruz is a Senator, Carson a clown, and I don't know what your reasoning is on Trump. Meanwhile, you like Kasich because he is a governor. You don't address what kind of governor he is. He is a liberal governor, taking Obamacare, implementing gay marriage even before he had to, totally accepting the welfare state, and strongly supporting amnesty.

You see, when you support someone, you are willing to accept the policies they would implement or continue. Kasich--amnesty, gay marriage, socialism, infanticide and the sale of body parts. Cruz and Carson, none of those things. Trump, we know he is against amnesty and Obamacare.

You are no conservative, no matter how hard you claim otherwise. You are a liberal Republican, which makes you a progressive warrior for the uniparty. You can support Kasich all you want, just stop calling yourself a conservative when you do so. As Montoya said, you keep using this word, but I don't think you know what it means.

It appears your calculations were a bit off, or perhaps just premature.

My first choice was the GOVERNOR, of Wisconsin, he dropped out....I then leaned toward Bush, another GOVERNOR, and even GOVERNOR Christie.....we now have a businessman, and two first term senators and 1 GOVERNOR as our candidates. We have a first term senator as President, how's that working out for you??

Governors do things, they are fully responsible for things like schools, police, national guard, prisons, highways, universities, health care programs, state parks, commerce, licensing, civil rights, etc etc. Senators, for the most part, vote yes or no on things that someone else does.

Trump,of course in unique in this situation...he is certainly a successful businessman but has become so by negotiating for the most part. Negotiations are, of course, necessary, but so are unwavering stances...you can't be a little bit pro-life, you can't be kind of in favor of civil rights, a little bit of religious freedom is like none, negotiating with ISIS is useless.....

I am in favor of people who have had to make hard choices, realize that 100% is improbable, but someone who has NEVER had to do so is, like Obama, is apt to be inept. `
