Sen. Ted Cruz has snatched away endorsements for his GOP presidential bid that would appear to be a natural fit for rival Sen. Rand Paul landing the nod from libertarians who've been supporters of Paul's father, Ron Paul.
The backing comes from the Liberty Leaders for Cruz coalition, headed by former Georgia Republican Rep. Bob Barr, who ran for president in 2008 and now heads the nonprofit Liberty Guard, Bloomberg reports.
"More than any other candidate for President in 2016, Cruz understands that the oath the president takes is a solemn commitment to always act in accordance with the Constitution, which is after all, the mechanism whereby our individual and collective freedoms as a country are secured," Barr said in a statement, The Hill reports.
"It is that commitment to the Constitution and to liberty that has drawn me to serve Sen. Cruz."(continued)

His speech on the senate floor was magnificent (last night)
Were there many Paul supporters?
Ron Paul was doing okay the last two times.
Why isn’t Cruz moving up in the polls?
Which has a lot to do with Paul’s whining today.
Well, so far in the first debates, the moderators have been able to mostly shut Cruz out of any interaction with the other candidates, as what they wanted was to maximize ratings by pitting Trump against those candidates who had mixed it up with him. If the field narrows soon, I am hoping Ted can start to actually debate some people.
I know—he just didn’t get enough votes. Many people thought he was a nut case .
I think the last time the poll leader won in Iowa was Jimmy Carter. Rick Santorum was solidly entrenched in 4th place when he won Iowa last time out.
In 2004 the polls said John Kerry was going to win by a wide margin but president Kerry never showed up for the inauguration. More recently polls predicted Scottish independence and a liberal landslide in parliamentary elections in Britain.
At this point, polls are most effective and picking bad bets.
Paul did win the Mackinac straw poll last week so there’s that.
The ‘polls’ currently cited are not usually national polls. They are polls for Iowa, New Hampshire etc. In my opinion, these early states were picked/allowed by the establishment because they are left leaning-establishment favoring — even though ‘republican’ primaries. No insult intended, but your view ‘why isn’t conservative x higher in the polls’ is exactly the intention of the media in cahoots with the rino establishment - always manipulating.
I’m glad Cruz is getting these endorsements, but my question is, “why isn’t he getting any traction?” It really baffles me.
The polls are a sham?
I saw that.
I actually like the guy personally—but not enough to vote for him—LOL!
