Ted Cruz names Bob Barr head of outreach effort to Ron Paul supporters and libertarians

via The Iowa Statesman.

Republican presidential candidate U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz today named former U.S. Rep. Bob Barr the National Chair of the “Liberty Leaders for Cruz” coalition. The campaign also released a video of eight leaders in the Liberty movement who are actively working for the Cruz campaign, featuring their personal stories of why they supported Ron Paul, and why in 2016, they support Ted Cruz for President.

Additional coverage at Reason. –

Fmr. Rep. Bob Barr (R-GA) was the Libertarian nominee for President in 2008, winning on the sixth ballot at a divided and fractured convention. After a controversial campaign that included a very public dispute with Ron Paul, Barr returned to the GOP and was defeated in the Republican primary in a 2014 bid to return to Congress.

Barr’s 2008 running mate Wayne Allyn Root has also since left the Libertarian Party, and taken up a position as chair of the Republican Liberty Caucus National Campaign Committee. Root is supporting Donald Trump in 2016 who, like Root himself, returned to the GOP after failing to secure a third-party presidential nomination.

Looks like a lot of the Paul voters already see the writing on the wall and are headed in the direction of Cruz already.

Barr is bad news, a loose cannon with some goofy ideas, if I remember correctly.

Yes naming Barr head of anything is just a bit scary.

Everyone who supports Ted Cruz should thank their lucky stars for Donald Trump. Trump has already weathered a lot of abuse that would have been directed at Cruz, allowing him to operate in an unimpeded manner in building his campaign.

And this is very valuable. All the nasty crap the Democrats and the media can throw are missing Cruz right now, at this critical time before the primaries. If you watch the news about Cruz, it all seems to be rather dull, but constructive. He is finding and enlisting state level teams, speaking to the influential conservative organizations, and all in a methodical manner not interrupted by yapping media types full of libels and slanders.

By the time the light dawns on the bad guys, Cruz is going to be in a much stronger fortified position, ready and able to meet the attacks head on.
