The next entrant into the GOP 2016 field risks being defined by his differences, not his conservative credentials.
COLUMBUS, OhioOn a recent afternoon, John Kasich, the governor of Ohio, strode into the Republican Party's headquarters in Washington, looked around the packed lobby, and declared, "Who are all these people?"
These people were the media. And they were there for him.
With his blunt style, willingness to jab at the GOP base, and sterling establishment credentialsa former House Budget Committee chairman and a second-term governor of the most important state in presidential politics, for startersKasich has emerged as one of the press corps' favorite dark-horse contenders in 2016.
But as he prepares to launch his campaign for president Tuesday in Columbus, Kasich risks becoming the purveyor of hard truths that the press loves to print but the Republican Party base hates to read....

Same as McCain, that's all the attraction he has for the press.
Sigh,
Pat Paulsen left us too soon. He would be right at home in this crowd.
And I fear there are still more bunny slippers ready to drop.
He ain’t getting my vote. Heard on Rush today that he supports Common Core and Obamacare. What reason is he giving me that I should vote for him? Two of the worst Obama garbage out there and this guy agrees with them. Sorry, another NO VOTE for another republican RINO.
LOL!
(BTW, I was 100% in agreement with you in supporting Gov. Palin, and am now 100% in agreement with you in supporting Sen. Cruz.)
All the best to you!
Paulson’s campaign platform included making a toupee for Mt. Baldy.
He had my vote just for that.
Scott Adams had it right about candidates and power.
You, too.
We spent a great Christmas (1972, I think) at Mount Baldy.
Where’s the “Rent’s Too Damn High” Guy when the nation needs him?
In a swing State gubernatorial election, and compared to the typical Ohio Democrat, he was worth voting for. Both houses of the legislature are in relatively conservative Republican hands thanks to the central and southern half of the State being largely rural and rational. But for president? No f!@#/%& way, John.
Who needs him when we’ve got El Hebbe and Grahmnesty?
Dana PeRino said that Kasich “would appeal to the folks” and his TV skills will be useful for “speaking to the masses.”
So saith the GOPe. Let it be so.
In other words, "Republican voters are my vehicle, not my master".
Johnny has as much chance at getting my vote as Yebbie.
willingness to poke his finger in the eyes of conservatives
He supports amnesty too for the Trifecta.
Another Democrat in an R jersey
As someone else commented, why when there are already so many to choose from:
Rubberio
NJFatBoy
¡YEB!
La Raza Rick
Grahamnesty
Pataki ( funny all by itself)
I remember ditching class and driving up there for the day every now and then when I was in HS.
Kasich - a tad too unctuous for me.....
Anyone that aligns themselves with anything Huntsman is D.O.A. to me.
He’s a smarmy know it all with a Foggy Bottom Complex.
