They’re Ted Cruz: “Reasonable” Senate GOP are just as irresponsible as Tea Party charlatan on Ocare

Senate GOP leaders are worried about Ted Cruz's health care hijinks. Maybe they should worry about their own?

Oh dear, the poor Responsible Senate Republicans. Their showboating junior colleagues in the Senate who are running for president, like Ted Cruz and Rand Paul, are going to make the would-be process of “fixing” Obamacare in the event of a King v. Burwell decision striking down premium subsidies very difficult. The Responsible, Senior, Statesmanlike Senate Republicans understand that you can’t just pull the plug on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act overnight without risking political blowback from its beneficiaries.

Eliminating Obamacare overnight is precisely what these responsible policymakers fear Ted Cruz will call for. And since the Senate is an archaic institution based on 18th-century aristocratic manners, Cruz could cause all sorts of turmoil in the chamber. (Not to mention in his side-gig as House Conservative Whisperer.)

Politico reports today that the GOP is “rife with tensions” about which strategy to follow should John Roberts & co. find for plaintiffs in the infamous Actually, millions of people weren’t supposed to get subsidies case. That’s why neither the House nor the Senate Republican conferences are showing their cards until SCOTUS forces them to: you don’t want to invite hatred from the base with a plan that even temporarily extends subsidies unless necessary....

Salon is a bunch of screaming left-wing nutcases who would stand by the side of the tracks cheering with a brass band if the Obama government rounded up ever conservative and shipped them off to concentration camps.

Everyday, another article, another litany of absurdity and lies and the drivel continues. Keep it up Salon, you are not convincing anyone, least of all the senator.

If you included Jews with conservatives they’d pay money to stand there and cheer

It would eliminate the individual and employer mandates as well as streamline essential benefit requirements, while extending subsidies into 2017.

Of course, that won't matter if the Supreme Court rules in favor of Obamacare subsidies, which I wouldn't put past them.

However, if the Court does strike down federal exchange subsidies, that would automatically free a lot of individuals and employers from the O'care mandate/penalty, since the penalty is based on an affordability test that includes subsidies in the determination.

That is, IF the Repubs were to do nothing in the wake of the Court ruling. But if the Repubs simply extend the subsidies, then the mandate/penalty would probably apply as if nothing had happened.

So I hope that if they extend the subsidies, the Repubs will address the mandate/penalty as well.

I can never get through more than a few paragraphs of Salon. Then I get sick.

An expensive health plan with a ridiculous deductible. And it still brings the rest of our rates up.

Oh yea, it’s because of huge subsidies!! what a joke.

What a disaster.

I stopped reading right there.

Who are the "beneficiaries?"

In order of offensiveness...

The professional life long indolent.
The huge and growing bureaucracy that supports them.
The other bureaucracy that promotes (with newspaper, magazine ads and TV and radio commercials) more unproductive to join the parasite class, 50% and growing.

Finally, the elected criminals whose goals in life are achieving power, holding on to it, becoming millionaires and convincing the parasites useless and unproductive of society to keep them in office. Over and over.

Of course Barack Hussein Obama wasn't a junior colleague from the senate who was fast tracked through political offices...

I’m with you. Quit reading after that. Totally bias and so DC-wonkish.

The so-called “six million” that would stop getting an illegal and unconstitutional subisidy probably don’t even vote.

But since when does the Constitution mean anything these days?
