According to Wikipedia, the JBS was founded in Dec. 1958. That sounds about right. I was in grade school in the late 1950s and my mother was very much involved in anti-communism; she never was a member of the JBS but had a copy of The Politician (and a lot of other anti-communist books). I think it was a pretty new organization at the time.
