Iowa's "good people" aren't always so good- this isn't the same place it was only 25 years ago, let alone in the pre-Harold Hughes days. The state motto may as well be changed to "Our liberties we despise and our rights we will disdain."

We've got some dandy agricultural fiefdoms, a massive government school empire, and enough insurance executives to fill Kinnick Stadium, but liberty? Not so much. We generally take one step forward and two steps back.
