‘Having your cake and eating it too.’
Libertarians squaring the circle.

I understand the reasoning. Where I come from, libertarians give lip service to the Christian business and fight hard to enact homosexual marriage.

This argument is just a bandaid on hypocrisy.

I haven’t seen the Libertarian party leadership defend businesses punished by the homofacists. The moment they do is the moment I’ll take them seriously.

this is the problem you run into when secular society bases the foundation of laws on nothing.

govt gave benefits to married folks/families because the family unit was incredibly important to society and gvt recognized healthy families make a healthy country. those “benefits” were there to offset some - but usually not all the costs - raising children - future citizens and workers and taxpayers - had on the parents. incentives that were good for the parents and also good for the govt in the long run.

There was a recent article discussing the liberals’ quandary about Islam. Liberalism insists that we be tolerant of Islam. Yet, the more Islam grows in the west, the more of a thread it is against western democracy because it is hostile to liberalism. What is a liberal to do?

And the same with libertarians. They are so open=minded, they believe, in the interest of freedom, that the STalinists should have the freedom to conduct a revolution wherever they wish.

The bottom line: only a strong central government could impose libertarianism on its populace. Should the US Dept of Ed require a libertarian curriculum in the common core, in local public schools?
