From Sarah Palin to John Boehner: the range of GOP craziness (Worse than it sounds)
The Los Angeles Times' Top of the Ticket ^ | July 15, 2014 | David Horsey

Posted on 07/15/2014 12:06:33 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Politically speaking, Sarah Palin is crazy — but in an entertaining way. Speaker of the House John Boehner may look reasonable by comparison, but his supposed rationality is pretty dubious..

Before I proceed to pick on these GOP icons, I want to acknowledge that I spend a lot of time blasting Republicans in my columns and cartoons. Many readers assume it’s because I’m a commie-pinko, America-hating liberal Democrat. Actually, my constant critique of today’s GOP has more to do with the fact that I grew up in a time and place where Republicans were often the smart, sane ones and quite a few Democrats were part of a regressive, corrupt old guard.

Coming from a long-time-Republican family, I leaned toward the GOP in my sympathies and my votes well into my 20s. But those were the days when the word "Republican" was not synonymous with conservative and conservative was not synonymous with reactionary, anti-intellectual, gun-worshiping, gay-bashing, immigrant-fearing populism.

So, as a lapsed Republican, I am disappointed with the narrowness, rigidity and willful ignorance of those contemporary Republicans who claim the right to brand any Republican who disagrees with them a "Rino" (Republican in name only).

Judged by the long history of the party, if anyone is an actual Rino, it’s Sarah Palin...

Dave sure is feeling his oats. Someone explain to me why they really don't talk about Dick Cheney, Walter Mondale or Dan Quayle (all of whom actually WERE vice presidents!) but they're still churning out dozens and sometimes HUNDREDS of stories a day about a woman they supposedly defeated in 2008. This is 2014!

Sorry, LAT, but Palin has lost more IQ points than the sum total of existing IQ points in your editorial staff.

None of you - on your best days - could do 1/2 of what she has done.

Ain’t buyin’ that “Sarah is stupid” act any more.

If you want stupid, look at your idiot dork president - the man with the fake past, faked IQ and most certainly faked leadership.

Although I loathe Horsey’s politics, he is a brilliant cartoonist though.

Horsey sure is a horse's @$$.

His cranium is firmly ensconced up his posterior. He must be suffering from the lack of oxygen.

Horsey? Horsey? Isn’t that what they play in the Los Angeles gay bath houses?

No, it's because you're a commie-pinko, America-hating liberal Democrat.

I grew up in a time and place where Republicans were often the smart, sane ones and quite a few Democrats were part of a regressive, corrupt old guard.

The LA Times employee was born: 1951, Evansville, IN

I remember. Eisenhower had a great deal of respect -- except for that vicuña fur coat thing and he played too much golf. After that the MSM let loose. Nixon was hated all along, of course.

Where did the employee of the LA Times hear that about Republicans and Democrats? He heard 1960s Marxist-Alinsky campus radical, psycho spoiled brat classmates whining that people believed that Republicans were smart and sane.

Until 1987 the "Fairness Doctrine" made it risky to express conservative opinions on the electronic media. The station owner was subject to losing the license to broadcast. Liberals / progressives lined up to complain to the FCC and the general feeeeeeeeeeeeling was that William F. Buckley's Firing Line on PBS one hour a week was all the fairness conservative opinion needed.

.. furthermore

The 1960s Marxist-Alinsky campus radical, psycho spoiled brats were celebrated in the establishment MSM as the most intelligent generation ever! They are now arguably that very establishment that praised them and they hold themselves and their ideological issue in even higher regard.

The media hated Nixon and Goldwater, they hated Reagan, Bush.. where the hell did the LA Times employee hear that Republicans were regarded as the smart, sane ones?

Prior to 1987 where did he hear that Democrats were regressive and corrupt? True but it was NOT in the MSM. Some very small, hard to find, limited-circulation publications had the truth. (But the "anti-war," pro-communist crowd admired by the MSM attacked some Democrats, that was reported in the media.)

I’ve met the woman and talked to her at length. She is one of the most intelligent people I’ve met face to face.

If the MSM went after Obama the way they go after her, he’d be wetting his pants on a daily basis.

Yep. I still have hard copies of some of his cartoons from the 1980’s back before anyone had a computer to store the stuff on.
