Trouble in Florida: DCCC-endorsed Candidate Suddenly Exits Race (Jolly has no opponents now)
Townhall ^ | May 13, 2014 | Daniel Doherty

Democrats in Florida's 13th Congressional District are in trouble. When the candidate the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee hoped to nominate refused to run, leaving them with the less-than-ideal option of endorsing a non-party affiliated political novice with an embellished resume, they held their noses and did so anyway.

But that was a mistake. The man they went out on a limb for -- and endorsed -- dropped out of the race today:

Dems' candidate to take on @DavidJollyCD13 - Ed Jany - is dropping out. Cites work conflict, days after we found holes in resume claims

Two months ago Rep. David Jolly (R-FL) won the bellwether special election in Florida’s 13th Congressional District by only a handful of votes. Today there isn’t even a candidate, much less a Democrat, for him to run against. Solid work, guys. Meanwhile, Democrats have no active candidate competing in the race at the moment and therefore must scramble to find someone to take on the (presumably) well-funded incumbent House Republican. Best of luck with that.

The National Republican Congressional Committee’s Katie Prill released the following statement:

“Words cannot describe what an epic failure this congressional race has become for the DCCC and Florida Democrats. After a devastating loss and wasting millions in the special election, one thing remains very clear: President Obama’s toxic agenda has cost the DCCC another seat that they couldn’t afford to lose.”

"They really sensationalized this thing talking about my resume," said Jany, speaking from his Bayshore Boulevard home in Tampa this afternoon a few hours after the Times' Adam Smith reported that he was leaving the race. But Jany admitted later in the conversation that it was "irresponsible on my part for not vetting" Madison University when it came to getting a college degree. Madison has the reputation for being a diploma mill that doesn't have an actual campus or classes.

The other revelation in reporter William R. Levesque's story regarding Jany's academic credentials was that even though he attended the University of Minnesota as an undergraduate for four years, he did not receive a degree from the school, despite what it says on his LinkedIn resume.

Another fake. Kinda sounds like Hussein.

Not quite true. Jolly will have two opponents. One a libertarian, Lucas Overby who got 9.8% of the vote in the specail election (and still Jolly beat the dem) and Michael Stephen Levinson who is running as a write-in. Mr. Levinson’s website notes that he has been running for various offices since 1980.

Here is just a snippet of his wackyness:

Michael Levinson 4 Congress then World Peacemaker
I am the poet inspired in the ocean wilderness
40 days and 40 nights
given a work of prophetic art,
The Book ov Lev It A Kiss
hand lettered, in double columns, to perform
on Whirled Wide Television
for all the worlds’ peoples at once,
Words, world orders and word hors d’oeuvres
A new word order.

World Peace is going to take hold on our good ship Mother Earth
Beginning with a sing-you-learn peaceful
whirled wide TV night!

What actually happened is that Ed Jany had lunch last week with Mark Pryor, who chastised Jany for thinking that his military service somehow entitled him to a seat in Congress.

Jany, being a good Marine, immediately dropped out of the race..

I’ve recently arrived at a quality of life test for FL. The quality of life is inversely related to the distance of a Super Wal-Mart. Additionally, a Southern Baptist church with a plywood Jesus sign within ten miles is an excellent indicator of long-term property appreciation.

You forget that laws , particularly election laws, don't mean shit>If you recall several years ago, in one of the North Eastern States, after the ballots had been printed, something happened to the Democrat candidate, and only a Republican was on the ballot. The Democrats sued and a judge allowed them to print new ballots with a Democrat's name. So Jolly is not out of the woods yet. Always look for the Democrats to pull an underhanded stunt.

Madison has the reputation for being a diploma mill that doesn't have an actual campus or classes.

So how much did this 'diploma mill' cost the US taxpayers in student loans and grants?
