Napoleon once said that sometimes a lucky general will do. Hilary Clinton may be powerful amongst Dems but she is very unlucky. First she marries a philandering husband that disgraced her when he was President. Then she loses to an unknown Senator from IL when she runs in the Dem primary for POTUS in 2008. Now one of her close staffer has a crazy husband. Bottom line is Hilary is very unlucky and will probably lose the primary in 2016.
It’s not that she is unlucky, IMHO. It’s that she has made choices in life that put her in the position to have those things happen.
Regarding a philandering husband, this has apparently been going on for decades, since at least Arkansas, but she either turned a blind eye, or assisted him in getting through the scandals. Why? To continue riding the wave that was Bill’s political career, and to thus further her own ambitions for power and influence. She was helping him to get through the scandal with Ms. Lewinsky as well, until it became undeniable publicly. I guess she might have not known, and thus believed his denials, but I really have a hard time believing this.
On the other hand, she has been lucky enough to survive multiple scandals of her own, including her commodities trading, the Rose law firm records, the White House firings she was involved in, the way in which her attempts at health care ‘reform’ were handled, and most recently the Benghazi disaster in which multiple people were murdered on foreign soil while she was Secretary of State. There are many more instances that could be cited, but the press has her back, and in many ways she has led a charmed political existence.
