John F. Brinson: Obama did not win the election; Romney lost it
The Lehigh Valley Morning Call ^ | November 27, 2012 | John F. Brinson, chairman, Lehigh Valley Tax Limitation Cmte.

Posted on 11/27/2012 6:42:38 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Barack Obama did not win the election. Mitt Romney and the Republicans lost it. Obama has no mandate. None whatsoever.

Here's why: Obama received roughly 7 million fewer votes in 2012 than in 2008. He was perceived to be something much less than he had portrayed himself. No matter what the Democrats did, they could not turn out anything like the 69.5 million votes they got in 2008. The election was handed to Romney on a silver platter, but his campaign advisers — and a couple of Republican Senate candidates — wrecked his chances.

Let's give the Republicans some credit. They did a great job of publicizing Obama's failures and broken promises and suppressed his support, but nationwide Republicans failed to turn out the independent vote for Romney. But Republicans did much better in Pennsylvania.

Obama won Pennsylvania by 308,000 votes, but only because he won Philadelphia County by 492,000 votes! That's right, folks. Philadelphia alone gave Pennsylvania's 20 Electoral College votes to Obama.

However, Romney won 55 of Pennsylvania's 67 counties, and added one seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, giving Republicans 13 of 18 Pennsylvania's seats in Congress. Pennsylvania as a whole, discounting Philadelphia, voted overwhelmingly for Romney...

I’ll second this. Strongly.

But it doesn’t change a dime about the fact we are losing badly, in momentum.

Bring jobs back to America now.

I think the big turning point(down) late in the campaign for Romney was when he switched over to ‘Prevent Defense’ for the 2nd and 3rd debates. Anyone who knows anything about strategy understands that a Prevent Defense only prevents YOU from winning most of the time. Well.... It should come as no surprise. THAT’S how ‘moderates’ run things. When victory is just sitting there, staring them in the face, they lack the instinct to go in for the kill and WIN!

Romney truly had 0bama on the ropes after that first debate, and he simply didn’t finish him off! 0bama came back for the 2nd debate, then he along with Candy Crowley, were able to get back into the race and win. You could even see it in the polling(for the most part). Romney got a real bounce from the first debate, but didn’t maintain the positive momentum from it.

Obama won in every crime ridden, murdering inner city in this country.

Out in the country where people work for a living Romney won.

That should tell you what we have for President.

It should tell you what we have for a nation.

I’m tired of the circular firing squad.

Idiot and/or acists on the take voted for Obama. It’s all going to have to fall apart before it gets fixed again....fixed the hard way unfortunately for us all. I hate being in the same boat with these people.

And the author of this worthless article joins the idiot brigade, at this astoundingly late date.

Right now Obama has about 4.5 million less votes, not 7 million less votes, than he did in 2008. He will probably end up with 3 million or so less votes.

And the author stupidly manages to repeat the lie that McCain got more votes than Romney.

Right now Romney has over 500,000 more votes than McCain did.

Yeah, and Detroit does it to Michigan every four years, too.

Hold on there ~ over 10% of the voters Obama suckered in back in 2008 manfully put their bellies to the bar and DID NOT SHOW UP in 2012.

All Romney had to do was as well as George W. Bush did in 2004.

The simple expedient of mounting a vigorous voter registration drive in the Spring would have gotten him the voters he needed to do that.

Alas, he wasted the Spring and alienated a good number of Republican voters.

I'm still waiting for him to start his campaign

Expecting voters to know what’s going on and their reliance on MSM is just part of why our great loss. While there are examples of fraud which may close up the gap, the gap is too big to blame the loss on fraud ...Expecting GOP E’s to address media bias or Romney to call Obama a congenital liar or even point out that the fact and figures released by the white house were allways questionable is another Let alone call him a “socialist”.. But the fault lies really in the messaging the Republican campaign came up.choking on political correctness parameters or triping over past positions on global warming and Romneycare both of which were bread and butter issues. .Then busy responding to pseudo positions devised by the demo-com party and echoed by their hand maiden camp followers in the media allowing them to set the agenda ..

Romney ran a “Johnny One Note Campaign”. Used a poison dart blow gun when he should have used a cannon loaded with grape shot because he had pleanty of stuff he could fill that cannon barrel with..

They failed to hammer away on what will happen when Obama gets returned; The Obama past due 2013/14 Tax Increases. The impact of Obama’s gagging energy.resources.(a socialist construct never branded as such) with policies requiring reliance on intermittent sources wind and solar and that resulting in massive corruption .,restricted use of drilling, and coal ,bans and on fracking, and resulting prices doubling on everything.. This was a bread and butter issue which reached into every “demographics” pocketbook including accepting the demo-com definition of hyphenated African-Hispanic -Americans .

.The impact of Supreme Court Appointments.. 18,000 new IRS agents and on and on. . Some were very briefly touched most weren’t and Benghazi/ foreign policy was left to languish. Then there is Obama’s personal extravagance and behavior refusing to visit Nashville after its disaster showing up at New Orleans after Mitt visited it. Even after the Christi thing if that was brought up it would have blunted the impact.

Instead we got a sales pitch on executive ability but not the reason why one should toss the old model and buy his. That print and tv pitch , 20 million new jobs, was given a discrarded dose of skepticism .

In addition Rove who I understand was handling the Charter PAC senate campaign played games. His material never warned voters that IF OBAMA GETS RE-ELECTED AND SENATE CONTROL REMAINED . .. OBAMACARE AND ALL THE TAX INCREASES THAT GO WITH IT WILL NEVER GET REPEALED Let alone tie into or cover the formentioned grape shot which would have perhaps changed that body. I don’t recall any of that material directed toward that fact.

Finally they didn’t believe the polls which turned out were dead on. Even going as far as setting up focus groups which could have looked into what’s going on . Even to the point of going out to local eateries and bars and eavesdrop into conversations and pick up on topics being discussed.(chat rooms twitter too contrived) They would have learned their turnout projections were off and the sence of urgency to get out the vote was diminished by their glowing projections and disbelief never mind ORCA which should have been tested. COMPLACENCY WAS ENCOURAGED BY THE MEDIA AND NOT COUNTER ACTED UPON

Our local small population (-8000) rural blue county GOP had at the outset good and growing attendence at their meetings 50 plus. At the meeting the Thursday before the election only about a dozen people showed up and I knew we were in trouble .

Nuts...This loss is inexcuseable, while I trully don’t believe Mitt Romney would ever continence losing, I’m begining to believe that most GOPE’s really didn’t want to see AHCA, (affordable health care act) otherwise known as ZerO care go ..

Without verifiable elections all talk about who won or lost and why is meaningless. Our elections were once audit-able. The system is complex, intentionally, opaque, and allows absolutely no path for verification. It once did. Votes were counted by poll workers at the precinct before any ballot left the oversight of volunteers from all parties. Once a ballot leaves the precinct the trail is gone. Once a vote is cast on a computer the trail is gone.

Today votes are counted by SEIU employees, or machines managed by SEIU employees. Absentee ballots are counted in effectively secret rooms. Observers are forbidden in many precincts, and Republicans specifically denied poll watch access by a law passed thirty one years ago, and renewed by Carter judge, who comes out of retirement each year. Republicans have allowed this violation of our essential right of representation and Democrats have used it well.

Elections cannot be verified. Even when someone tries, there are not data which could confirm the amount of fraud, and it doesn't take much to fix an election. Forget the election. It only proved who controls what remains of our republic. If citizens can't understand that cheating is the norm, and that it is being condoned by both parties, we don't have a citizenry capable of protecting a republic of laws.

First, it takes the acknowledgment that we have a problem. It takes understanding that the only path to legitimate elections is simplification. Paper ballots must be counted before the ballots leave the sight of poll watchers. Both Republicans and Democrats claim to want honest elections. Our pundits dismiss the issue either out of ignorance, or because they benefit by having issues to explain, whether the issues are real or explanations of unverifiable elections. We have no verifiable counts. Without that we have no problems worth trying to solve based upon those results. It is like attempting to fix global warming in spite of the diminishing average earth temperatures over the last 14 years. What must first be fixed is the disdain with which both parties have treated the only mechanism for ferreting the will of the public. Both parties, but more so the Democrats, want to fix the problems they perceive, and those are often problems which solutions will benefit them financially.
