So writes reader Jim, who sends along several photos from the Romney-Ryan rally in Jacksonville which is starting as of this writing. (added: Prof. Reynolds also is posting reader photos)
He further writes: Line for RomneyRyan Jax Landing event two lines both way longer than this appears:
Then Jax landing total insanity!!
Post-script Jims phone ran out of power so he couldnt take more photos, but he did send along this account of the afternoon:
"Jacksonville Landing was absolutely electric with I would estimate two to three thousand people screamIng for Romney and Ryan. It was a total blast to be there. It was literally one of the most fun things I have ever done.
The warm up speakers included Jennifer Carroll, the African-American Republican Lieutenant Governor of Florida.
Speaking of that, I am surprised at how many African-Americans were there there were a lot.
Tons of military veterans too.
Romney and Ryan both look fantastic up close. Ryan is obviously in superb physical condition and Mitt looks great too. Their speeches were great and covered some of the same ground as their convention speeches, but they also totally hammered Obama for the unemployment rate, the drop in average family income of $4000, which I dont recall hearing before, the national debt, huge cuts to defense spending looming, etc. Mitt also reiterated his 5-point plan. The crowd loved it.
Ann Romney spoke for several minutes too, and she was great.
But the best part was after the speeches were over and Mitt and Paul Ryan came down from the stage to shake hands with the people. Mitt really tried to connect with everyone he could. I pressed forward and eventually got to shake his hand. He had a firm handshake and looked me right in the eye for a split second. I actually forget what I said to him because it was such an insane moment.
I was actually a little afraid because so many people were pushing behind me to get a chance to shake Mitts hand. It was totally insane. Like a mosh pit at a rock concert, like maybe an AC/DC or Led Zeppelin concert!
The level of enthusiasm for this ticket was shockingly high in Jacksonville.
And outside I counted 9, yes 9, lame protestors wearing purple SEIU shirts and screeching unintelligibly. It was perfect.
Speaking of that, I am surprised at how many African-Americans were there there were a lot.
Thanks for the great report!
This was a much better report than anything Politico could put out - with their usual snark and bias.
Thanks for posting this 2DV!
I hope to see an R&R event when they return to Wisconsin.
Time to send another $20.
Aren’t Romney and Ryan also limiting their campaign events like Obama?
Sounds like a good time was had by all, except the Secret Service guys.
Check out the backround of the 2nd picture.
The sign overhead says RUSH STREET.
ha
Check the hospitals to see if any of the Clay Akin “Blackspotters” on Twitter were admitted for alcohol poisoning ;)
Nice to see a crowd in Florida! I ran a 15K right past that location back in March. Great city!
Whatever the number was, it was packed. Most only found out about this yesterday and it required you request tickets to get in. Was a very good on-line system. Add to it the Gators had their opener today as well. I was maybe about 15 feet behind the person taking the photo of Romney. It was so packed that people were looking through the steps to see the stage.

Hey how did you know I sent 25 last week, in appreciation for choosing Paul Ryan . I am sure they will be back to WI soon and I hope to attend.
Off topic, but my husband met Gov.Scott Walker today, and he took a picture, thank goodness.
Luv my Gov!
: )
Huge mobs are coming out to see him just when his plane lands. Something is happening, and the MSM doesn’t like it.
I remember when we freeped Kerry in Cocoa Beach. The turnout was amazing, with most of us standing there for hours. About 30 minutes before Kerry appeared, three purple shirts drove up, crossed A1A to the hotel side and the cameras flocked to them as if there was parity. 3 paid goons versus several hundred patriots.
Sounds encouraging.
Good for them!
I’m really happy to see such crowds, honestly, you know, they deserve this, and I’m going to say with all sincerity that we deserve them.
I was really happy with the selection of Ryan obviously, but still had the old Romney reservations...but it turns out I was wrong about him, I was just flat out wrong about him, and it makes me very happy to say so.
May God Speed you on your journey, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. America is counting on you both.
Just look at those lynch mobs waiting to hang the first black that walks by!
