Jerry Pournelle had an interesting anecdote in his commentary on this move by Obama. It is worth posting here:
“Some years ago the California legislature contemplated a law that would require any hospital that had a maternity ward to perform abortions on demand.
The elderly Mother Superior who ran St. Joseph’s hospital went to the legislature and said as follows:
‘I am as abbess of the order that owns this hospital a corporation sole, and I own this hospital. If you pass this law I will send all the patients to other hospitals, discharge the staff, cancel all the insurance policies, and order the demolition of all the buildings. Thank you.’
Now she was very much of the Old School, and no one doubted she meant every word of it. The law never got to the floor of the assembly. I have no idea what President Obama thinks he is doing here, but I cannot see how this will help him be reelected.”
Hopefully today’s clergy will awaken the laity en mass.
My friend that is the point, Obama wants her to do these things, especially cancel the policies.. Just like in Mass ( gee I wonder who as from their ) when the Chruch said no mas to "adoption" policies they couldn't live with and walked away from that sector of their work.
I am convinced as many others here, that Obamacare is step one on the way to total governmental "nationalized" health care. He has to have it fail to collapse in their laps.
Getting the Catholic Churches out of the way gives him no competition to his one "godness" which is him and statism. No Hospital that has a conscience, Their medicine will have no soul.
Now in regards to re-election, I have to think they have a game plan that excludes Catholics as they did blue collar workers, this is the 2nd group they have tossed out. I fear what they will do to win, It has to be cheating of some horendous magnitude.
The bottom line, they have pissed off Catholics beyond belief, and they don't seem to care, the arrogance is astonishing.
What is worse is, I saw it coming and got my @$$ handed to me hear when I predicted with the Stupak deal it was over to bring the Catholics aboard. Little did I know it was a bunch of renegade Nuns that drove this, not anyone else in the power structure as I can tell. The Obamaton's lied to them, they are ticked, and they are not going to let this one go...
