The California Republican Party keeps making matters worse as it struggles against what seems inevitable.
On Friday, the California Supreme Court unanimously decided to leave in place state Senate district maps drawn by the voter-created California Redistricting Commission. This was the second time the GOP turned to the court for help, and the second time it was slapped down.
The Republicans spent and probably wasted $2 million on its drive to qualify a referendum challenging the maps. It's not certain that the measure will qualify for the November ballot.

As the article points out (after the fold), 6 of the 7 Justices of the California Supreme Court are Republican appointees.
Republicans don’t seem to be very good judges of character. Of course, Republican judges are hard to come by these days.
Good. The sooner the house of cards comes crashing down, the sooner the rebuilding can begin, along with the removal of marxist ideology.
When everybody gets in free there's little work to be had making sure the forms are completed properly.
Dems have held the legislature FORTY YEARS. They've lusted after reducing the majority required for tax hikes from a 2/3 super majority.
Now, with this redistricting scam, they won't need to lower the bar.
The SCOTUS has approved racial gerrymandering and that is what CA did to create Hispanic districts around LA. I don’t like it but it’s the law and the courts can’t be blamed here for knowing what the eventual ruling will be.
