They know who the real threat is (Team Romney attacks Newt, not Santorum)

Restore Our Future, a super PAC backing Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign, will run full-page ads attacking Newt Gingrich in the Manchester Union Leader and The State in Columbia, South Carolina, the most prominent newspapers in the next two states to vote….

The decision to attack Gingrich is a curious one as Rick Santorum has emerged as Romney’s top rival for the GOP nomination after he virtually tied Romney in Iowa’s caucuses on Jan. 3. Post-voting analysis shows much of Gingrich’s support in that state ended up going to Santorum.

Maybe I will be proven wrong about Santorum’s staying power, but I don’t think so.

Team Romney and its sycophants in the conservative establishment media have known, at least since October after the Perry crash, there is only one candidate who could defeat Romney in the primaries.

They didn’t dump everything including the kitchen sink on Newt’s head not for nothing.

Romney doesn’t have the balls to call Obama a socialist then Newt needs to take off the gloves and come out fightinhg. Romney isn't half as bad as zero is going to be. This time no free rides or letting zero play the race card.

Romney camp is attacking Newt not Santorum because they do not believe in the third leg in Conservatism which is Social Issues. They think Santorum’s social Conservative, Working Class, Reagan Democrat message has no chance because they do not believe in the Reagan model. Newt is the only one left opposing Mitts for the Rino-McCain-Dole-HW Bush-Ford-Rockefeller-George Romney wing of the party which is all they believe in anyway.

I’m not sure ... I’m thinking Romney knows he’s got a thousand times more money to spend for the rest of the Primaries and thinks the Dark Horse will founder before the final stretch, so he is attacking the person who may have the money to produce the advertisements which will be detrimental.

I’ll wait and see ... tonight’s debate could be very revealing.
