Race for GOP running mate begins as Gingrich sucks up to Palin and Chris Christie stumps for Romney

As the race for the Republican presidential nomination hots up, the candidates have been dropping hints about their possible running mates.

Newt Gingrich today said he would 'certainly' consider asking Sarah Palin to join him on the ballot, while Mitt Romney was accompanied on a campaign stop this morning by Chris Christie, the popular Governor of New Jersey.

Both those GOP heavyweights were thought of as potential candidates for the top job before announcing that they did not intend to run.

Mr Christie endorsed the frontrunner Mr Romney in October, but Mrs Palin has yet to give her support to any of the candidates.

The former Governor of Alaska's endorsement has been eagerly sought by all the candidates, as it would bring the support of Mrs Palin's conservative evangelical fans....

They think all of Governor Sarah Palin's "fans" are evangelicals? Where did they get that crazy idea? Oh, yeah, the American media, probably. I hope both groups of presstitutes actually believe that. And what would be the point of a RINO like Milt picking a RINO like Christie for VP?

“And what would be the point of a RINO like Milt picking a RINO like Christie for VP?”

Mitt is well up into his sixties and if something happened we would still have a northeastern liberal lawyer for a president.

Good grief, they really are pretty clueless when it comes to understanding Palin supporters. The American media did its best to deliberately mis-frame this to begin with, of course. But on the other hand, I can’t deny that her support is defined by a her rather atypical ideological mix... a sort of outsider/reformist umbrella, encompassing western-state libertarianism, mid-American populism, and traditional social conservatism. Some of those things don’t usually exist alongside each other very easily or comfortably, but somehow Palin has them finessed into a smooth, complimentary package. One of the reasons I was always intrigued with her even pre-McCain.

And some of the reasons she’ll occupy the White House someday, if it’s still there by that time. Which is why Team Obama and the DNC has feared her since the first day. They try to color it as hate and scorn for her “know-nothingness” but I know fear when I see it.

From Christies comments, it appears Mittens may be counting his chickens before the hatch. I don’t care who he would pick second, Romney isn’t getting my vote. It looks like super Tuesday is actually going to count this year and it won’t be pretty for the flipper

Just an FYI, but the 2012 super Tuesday won’t be quite as super as usual because the super Tuesday state with the most delegates just had it’s primary date moved into April by order of Federal Judges Orlando Garcia and Xavier Rodriguez.

That was really stupid of Gov. Christie “threatening” Iowa with retaliation if Milt doesn’t win the caucuses. I spent more than half my life in Central Iowa (1974-2001) and they won’t like that AT ALL!

Interesting take on that. These polls are so all-over-the map now that the only thing that is predictable seems to be that we are in for some real surprises Tuesday. The real fun starts shortly afterward as candidates drop out and have to decide who to endorse, or whether or not to endorse anyone.

“Mitt Romney was accompanied on a campaign stop this morning by Chris Christie,...”

That would be a disaster ticket. I would not be able to pay people to put up yardsigns in my county.

Maybe they think pro-life voters must automatically be evangelicals ?

I liked Sarah , was one of her fans, but she dropped out and should stay out.

Newt needs to look at Ryan or Demint.

The leftist MSM is worldwide, and, despite the profound decline in worldwide newspapers and worldwide MSM TV, there’s no actual sign that this ongoing political monopoly will end, ever. The worldwide left continues to try to control the Internet, too.
