Gas-Gate: The Democrats' Election Year Plan To Keep Gas Prices High
The Patriot Room ^ | June 13, 2008 | Bill Dupray

Posted on 06/13/2008 7:46:51 AM PDT by Bill Dupray

I think most Democrats in Congress went to college, though there is seldom any outward sign of it. While there, they undoubtedly learned about the law of supply and demand. The demand from China and India is jacking up worldwide oil prices and the federal gas tax increases it further.

The Democrats are refusing to do anything about it and are absolute sitting ducks on this issue. They won't allow us to drill our own huge reserves that are located in places where no one has ever been and no one will never go. This week they tried, and failed, to raise taxes on oil company profits, which would have increased the price of gas.

Obama even opposes suspending the federal gasoline tax for the summer, despite having voted three times for a gas tax holiday when he was in the Illinois legislature.

More. Video of Newt that would help McCain beat Obama like a rented mule on this issue.

The want to keep blaming the high prices on Bush and the republicans so they can put a dem in the White House.

We conservatives need to keep getting the message out that it is the DEMOCRATIC congress and not the President that has made the high gas prices.

Between Democrat failure to open up U.S. fields and offshore shelf drilling; amnesty for illegals and failue to acknowledge success in Iraq, plus taxes, taxes and more taxes to pay for the great Obama Government Giveaway!, if the RNC can’t grow a pair and show the country what lefties we have running Congress, then there really is no hope.

I agree with you.

It is going to be a long and difficult fight for the Republicans. The libs registered voters in record numbers to vote for Hillary and Obama in the primaries. If they all come out and note Dem in November, we are soooooooooooooooo screwed I am afraid.

The RNC and all of us Republicans have to get the word out. We have to get out and vote, even though McCain is not the choice for most true Conservatives. He is the nominee and we have to support him to keep the libs out of the White House.

Here in NJ I am so outnumbered by the libs it is insane. I try to give them facts and they spout the MSM crap that the libs have programmed into them. The do not believe facts that are backed up with documentation, they like to keep their heads buried in the sand.

There was a GOP majority in congress until 2 years ago.
Democrats still managed to block drilling and exploration.
Why??

Because some Republicans allowed the Rats to control the agenda. It is easy to blame democrats now, but republicans seem to be just as responsible.
Typical election year finger pointing and the same pathetic group will be re-elected and oil will still be the issue and problem for the next election cycle.

CONGRESS IS TO BLAME FOR HIGH OIL PRICES AND NO EXPANSION OF DOMESTIC ENERGY. CONGRESS FOLKS! UNDERSTAND??

“democrat plan to keep gas prices high...”

hopefully, it’ll backfire and the dreamed-of veto-proof democrat majority will go packing.

but, then again, they control so many voting machines; no matter who votes for whom, the little levers can be kicked up to feed in more votes for the communists.

imho

Even if we drill for more oil, they're not going to allow it to be refined: Greens Thwart Gasoline Production

I know congress is to blame.

But the libs will try to blame it on the Rep administration to help them get elected President.

Yes, we Conservatives have to do it because there is no Republican Leadership that is willing to subject themselves to the bad press they would receive from Big Media.

The fact that we have not built a refinery since 1972 (I believe that is the year), says a lot.

We need to build more refineries, and drill our own oil. It may not help right now, but it will make the future better. If we had drilled years ago like they wanted to, we would not be paying the price we are now.

Thanks to congress and the envirowackos paying them off, I can barley afford to commute to work.

The Democrat Party and their Green Party envirowacko minions have already blocked refinery expansions that were ready to be built:

From the link I posted above:

"The Sierra Club and the Natural Resources Defense Council, or NRDC, successfully pressured the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to block ConocoPhillips’ expansion of its Roxana, Ill., gasoline refinery, which processes heavy crude oil from Canada, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.

The project would have expanded the volume of Canadian crude processed from 60,000 barrels per day to more than 500,000 barrels a day by 2015. After the Illinois EPA had approved the expansion, the green groups petitioned the federal EPA to block it, alleging ConocoPhillips wasn’t using the best available technology for reducing emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides.

Apparently, the plant’s planned 95 percent reduction in sulfur dioxide emissions and 25 percent reduction in nitrogen oxides wasn’t green enough..."

NOTHING will be done before November. Dems feel high gas prices are an issue that can be pinned on Bush, and hedge funds understand that the trading environment will favor them until the election.

McCain had better come out with a plan BLASTING congressional inaction soon.
