Bill Richardson has said he has no interest in national office, but I think he can be persuaded into it by his party. One thing is clear- he will reelection by a bigger margin than any Gubenatorial candidate in NM before him.
As for Jeff Bingaman, he's lost a couple of points. I don't think that he's all that strong. Allen McCulloch has an interesting background, but he'll need financial support and so far has gotten little from the GOP establishment.
Richardson is a lying sack of merde, every inch as trustworthy as his fellow sleaze master, Slick Willie. Of course he wants to be President, and won't hesistate for a moment to take the VP slot that I believe will be offered him by whomever gets the nomination in '08. I'd imagine that's the only reason why Diane Denish remains his running mate (of whom BR has molested), since she believes putting up with him gets her the Governorship before long.
I never understood why Bingman coasts to re-election, without ever facing a serious challenge. He seems like the ultimate non-entity. I guess he must have good constituent services or something.
