Poll: JOE ALLOWAY leads PHIL PAVLOV on inside margin, in Michigan House District 81 – JOBLESS; EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE were key factors

PORT HURON, MI, July 19, 2004 (NEWSWIRE) -- The latest poll of voters in the crucial state of Michigan House District 81 have Joe Alloway-R (Port Huron Township) leading St. Clair’s Phil Pavlov, greater than its 4 percent margin of error.

The poll of 600 likely Republican voters in St. Clair County Michigan’s State Representative District 81 countywide found Alloway leading Pavlov by 12 points, 48 percent to 40 percent in a three-way race with Yale Republican Steve Pray Nader included in the ballot test.

Without Pray, Alloway still led Pavlov by 8 points, 46 percent to 38 percent.

The Joe Alloway Port Huron, St. Clair County Michigan District 81 primary ticket outpolled Phil Pavlov in all areas questioned. While Pavlov trailed, the majority of Pavlov’s respondents said Alloway was better qualified through experience and education.

Phil Pavlov, a St. Clair County Michigan Commissioner was just fourteen-months into his 24-month term county commission term when entering this hotly contested Michigan House of Representatives race.

Alloway’s twenty-two year national financial institution community service, previous state and federal experience was the major factor Pavlov supporters chose Joe Alloway as better qualified.

The poll, which found that Pavlov had a favorable/unfavorable rating of 52-to-44 percent to Alloway's 46-to-39 percent was attributed to Alloway’s service in the United States Marine Corps, experience with terrorism and university degree in public administration.

Phil Pavlov was noted as not having a four-year college degree, or a veteran of branches of the US Military. The poll was conducted July 14-16 by PTM/UM.
