To: Pennsylvania Party and Public Officials Whereas, Arlen Specter has failed to support many of the core values held by most Republicans and has instead supported many liberal positions in line with the Democratic party's platform and whereas, Arlen Specter failed to support former President Ronald Reagans appointment of Robert Bork to the U.S. Supreme Court and whereas, Arlen Specter later supported controversial judge Frederica Messiah-Jackson for a lifetime appointment by President William Clinton to a federal judgeship and whereas, liberal Arlen Specter supported President Clinton with his outlandish not proven vote and whereas, Arlen Specter at first supported Teresa Heinz, (now the wife of Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry ) and Barbara Hafer (now a registered Democrat and possible Senate candidate in 2006) over then Congressman Rick Santorum for U.S. Senate in 1994 and whereas, liberal Arlen Specter has not been a dependable supporter of President George W. Bush and whereas, liberal Arlen Specter would probably Chair the very important Judiciary Committee if returned to Washington and whereas, Arlen Specter will soon be 74 years old and if he is unable to complete another term, Democratic Governor Ed Rendell would appoint his successor; therefore, We, the undersigned, all citizens of Pennsylvania, do hereby petition our elected Republican party and public officials NOT to ENDORSE Arlen Specter for another six year term to the U.S. Senate. We, do hereby petition that the Republican State Committee ENDORSE Conservative Congressman Pat Toomey or vote for an open primary.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
