Kutcher and Walker in "Dukes of Hazzard"? (Brittney as Daisy Duke)

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that a script for a big-screen version of "The Dukes of Hazzard" is in the works, with Ashton Kutcher and Paul Walker both interested in the lead roles of the fast-driving cousins.

Anthony Anderson ("Barbershop") will star as Boss Hog. The CBS TV series ran from 1979-85.

And here's a kicker: The trade also reports that Britney Spears may be interested in playing the role of Daisy Duke.

Well, of course she would be interested in the role, she has been desperately seeking anyone dumb enough to put her in front of a movie camera again ever since 'Crossroads' flopped.

This is just another one of those rumours her PR people make up every time they need to make her seem relevant.

With today's Hollywood environment, they'll have to modify a Yugo and rename it the General Hooker.

Heck, mention there's a Hooker involved and B.J. Cinton might agree to play Boss Hogg!

Ashton Kutcher is stuck with the label of a dopey, low-brow comedy actor. He would not work at all as a Duke.

And Britney will not be playing Daisy Duke. It seems that there are just basic scripts for this right now.l We wouldn't see a movie for probably two years. Britney's 15 minutes are almost over. Two years from now, it would be a joke to put her in a movie.

I wonder who they are trying to market this towards? I cant see the 12-18 year old set going to see this, but that's who they seem to be gearing this towards if the rumors of the possible actors is true.

Actually, I thought Britney wasn't half bad in Crossroads.

My 9-year old of course thought she was fantastic.

Let me guess, it's Warner Brothers that's doing this new Dukes of Hazzard movie, right?

I don't know why, but apparently SOMEONE at Warner Brothers is in love with Ashton Kutcher, because they're literally THROWING all their best roles at him. They want him to play Superman, Batman, and if this is a WB production, one of the Dukes as well. It's nuts.

Ok as a great fan of The Dukes Of Hazzard this makes me sick. Britney taking over the role of Daisy Duke??? She isn't even qualified enough to wash Catherine Bach's clothes much less take over her role as Daisy.

This is gonna suck sooooooooooo bad.

The only Daisy Duke is Catherine Bach.

Period.

But those are exactly the requirements for playing one of the dopey Duke boys.

I agree with you about Britney though. Her legs aren't long enough (the requirements for playing Daisy ;) )

Cameron Diaz would be a better choice.

Cameron would have been a great choice before she went for the heroin chic look.

You think this symbol of southern racism would make it to the remake?

Of course, a Dukes movie without General Lee would be like a Lassie movie without a dog.
