DAVENPORT, Iowa -- The Quad City River Bandits have retracted plans to turn the troubles of Iowa State basketball coach Larry Eustachy into a night at the ballpark.

Team President Kevin Krause said it was a mistake to plan the "Larry Eustachy's Iowa State Night at the Ballpark." The event was supposed to be held next Wednesday.

The River Bandits were going to offer $2 admission for any fan who showed a college identification or wore Iowa State gear to the 7 p.m. game. Once inside, fans would have been able to buy $1 Natural Light beer and there would have been a kissing booth.

Recently released photos show Eustachy drinking Natural Light and trading kisses on the cheek with coeds during a late-night party following a game at Missouri in January.

Eustachy, who was suspended this week, said he is an alcoholic and that he won't resign from his post. Administrators have recommended that he be fired.

Krause said organizers did not realize Eustachy was dealing with alcoholism when they planned the event.

Krause offered an apology to Eustachy and to the fans. He also offered free admission to Wednesday's game.
