Dems to Save the Day for Lott (Vanity)

I have been thinking about this all day (as I have been reading various Lott threads and listening to talk radio). I'm more and more convinced that the democraps have set this straw dog issue in motion so that they can come along and "rescue" Lott at the 11th hour from his own party. "We forgive you. You are sufficiently contrite." "We will allow you to serve as Senate Majority Leader, but we will dictate the agenda, the committee funding, etc."

I'm troubled by back-room deals between Hatch and Leahy and I see the same thing developing between Lott and Daschle. What am I missing?
