Caught the last 10 minutes while dining in a bar & grill on Sunday afternoon. Still don’t get it. The WBB game doesn’t compare to the mens game. Every rebound reminded me of black Friday at the Walmart or two families breaking out in a fight in the buffet line at Golden Corral. And then all the preening and selfie videos at the awards podium?. I’d rather watch the NBA. And I hate the NBA.

How did Caitlin Clark's numbers look against South Carolina?

Anyone have a link to her final game box score and her season box score?

Carolina was undefeated, so it was a really important test for her skills and performance under pressure.

For God’s sake, don’t say that, or you’ll be called the worst person in the world.

I think she will find that the thug factor is amped up in the wnba.

Yep. Right there with you on this. People tuned in to see Catlin.

Not USC.

They won't tune in on a regular basis to watch the wnba. Possibly some early games, but not season long viewers.

Plus, the bull dyke pocs in the wnba aren't going to let a white conservative gal be welcome in their dumpster fire of a leagure.

>The real test of Kaitlin Clark's real star power is if she will have a meaningful positive impact on the BBLL

Well, Caitlin's already had some effect on their acolytes at top NCAA levels. Kim Mulkey shows up to this year's game with Caitlin dressed like a normal coach, her team behaved well during and after the game. And Mulkey deflected criticism of skipping the Anthem rather than defending her season long practice of skipping it. While Clark's team were portrayed as exemplars for participating in the Anthem. Geno strenuously walked back his brief claim that his UCONN star guard was a better player than Clark. And Dawn Staley went out of her way to say nice things about Clark and the Iowa team in general after her win. Although I'd like to give them a little bit of benefit of the doubt, there clearly was pressure on them because attacking Clark and the Iowa team was NOT good for the Woman's basketball brand. Basketball, Iowa women's style, sells big, bigger than NCAA men or either sex's pro leagues.

Final NCAA woman's rankings are out. Unsurprisingly SC was unanimous #1. But if you look at the point totals, Iowa ended not only ranked #2, but also unanimously #2. I've not seen the latter reported anywhere. And in addition to breaking Seth Curry's season 3 point record - by forty, and breaking the career 3 point record, previously set over 5 years, in just four years, Clark set the career and single season scoring records and the career PPG average record. While also becoming 3rd on the career assist totals and falling just short of 1000 career rebounds.

Moreover, this 2024 woman's Iowa graduating class is a great example of history, if not repeating, then rhyming, with Iowa men's 1956 class. Both classes made the final four their last two seasons and the championship game their final season. Both lost their final game to historically great undefeated teams with great centers. As good as SC's run has been and Kamilla Cardoso is, Bill Russell and his SF Don's were even better, winning 51 straight and consecutive NCAA championships 1955-56. Both Iowa teams jumped to notable early leads against their juggernauts and both were worn down and ended up losing by precisely 12 points to them. Caitlin's number will doubtless be retired, the entire 1956 men's graduating class, "The Fabulous Five" had theirs retired. One of the Fab Five, Carl Cain, played in the '56 Olympics, perhaps Caitlin will play in the '24 ones. Caitlin's class's run was preceded by Iowa having the consensus NCAA All American center (and POY) in Megan Gustafson, 5 years earlier. The Fab Five's run was preceded, 4 years earlier, by Iowa having the consensus NCAA All American center (and also NBA first round draft choice and '56 Olympian) in Chuck Darling.

A couple of things are going to happen.

-First, Caitlin Clark will become the belle of the ball in ladies' pro basketball and black viewers will mutiny.

- Second, ladies college basketball will shortly be overrun by lesser male players feigning transhood in pursuit of scholarship and eventual opportunity at "pro" basketball. Female and coach acceptance make this a certainty.

- Third, Suburban white women will be clawed away from the extremists as their sporting places in Basketball, Field Hockey, Volleyball, Lacrosse, Soccer, Rowing, Track, Ice Hockey, Tennis, and Softball are overtaken by men.

Of course it’s actually much more complicated than that. The fact is the women’s college game has been getting better, more competitive, more fun, and the players stick around. For all the post pandemic years the journos have been talking about the women’s tournament being more entertaining than the men’s. Add to that the fact that Clark set a bunch of career records this year that rewrite the record book for all college basketball, not just the women’s game, that generated a lot of press. Now the fact that she’s basically nice, not showboaty, and good in interviews doesn’t hurt. But it’s a lot more complicated than “white girl brings good ratings”.

Her popularity more about the fact that Clark is more representative of the nation and American women than the average WNBA players. She's heterosexual and has a boyfriend rather than an obnoxious lesbian. She proudly stands for the national anthem and isn't an anthem-kneeling Marxist with hatred for the country. She's well spoken and a good role model for young girls.

All that combined with her incredible talent is the reason she's vastly more popular than any women's player in history.

Her popularity is more about the fact that they actually talk about her. She’s been all over sports talk the last 3 months. Can’t be popular if nobody talks about you.
