"Pause" in the context of politics or governmental action is quickly becoming one of the scariest/ most Orwellian words out there. Seriously, I can't think of its use in either context where it doesn't mean something bad, usually an end-around the public's will, is happening.

And that's the whole point. The environmental movement has become a particularly useful pawn to the marxists trying to destroy the West and enrich China. Of course that demand will be met from somewhere else, and if foreign, they're probably someone who'll produce it in a much more environmentally damaging fashion. But it ain't about the environment anymore...
(And of course Canada is just going to sell the oil that would've been transported via Keystone XL to China- so how did that help carbon emissions again?*)
*No, I don't give a crap about carbon emissions, just pointing out the blatant hypocrisy
