Around that age, I got caught laughing in class a few times, and one time for passing a note. All it took was for the teacher to admonish me for me to stop – no detention and no physical punishments were necessary.

And from what I read this girl’s laughing in class didn’t even take place in the coach’s class.

“The principal told them they would be in class detention for about 10 to 20 minutes, and they would let their softball coach know about the situation”.

So, the coach took it upon herself to met out a punishment, one that seemed pretty extreme given the circumstances.

I’m appalled by the fact that the family hasn’t gone to the cops, filed charges.

If the family is looking for a quick payoff instead of justice, that’s a rotten message to send to your kid.
