Amid some already-historic changes around college football that include major conference realignment and an expanded playoff format, some interested parties are proposing another structural change to the sport: a so-called "Super League," according to The Athletic.
The group calls itself College Sports Tomorrow. Composed of sports executives, university presidents, and at least one NFL official, it has a plan: Take the 70 most important programs in college football, including every Power Five school and Notre Dame, and name them as permanent members of a national league.

I don’t see it happening. There are 2 giant juggernauts in the SEC and B1G. Its only a matter of time before they strip the ACC of the programs they want and leave the rest to join the Big 12 which is clearly a step behind even the ACC.....which is miles behind the Big 2.
Been saying this has been coming for awhile. Only a matter of when.
Are these people on drugs? There already is a Super League. College. Football gets more boring and less relevant every year.
I disagree. If a college/university want to join the “national league,” they should be able to do that. College sports are entertainment, nothing more. So there is no harm in having many teams/divisions in the league. That said, there should be D1, D2, D3, ... levels so that there would be realistic competition. For example, Eastern Washington University could be a D2 while the University of Washington and Washington State University could be a D1. Similar to what is FBS and FCS right now.
The whole idea of getting rid of the current conference debacle and reestablishing geographical rivalries is the right direction.
My idea is to basically divide up the Division I schools into 12 Divisions, each with two tiers. The upper tier are the schools generally associated with the Power Conferences and the lower tier are the schools from the smaller conferences. But there’s a playoff game at the end of the season to determine which lower tier team will play in the upper tier the following season.
Many schools, aside from the likes of Ohio State, Michigan, USC, Texas, LSU, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, Penn State, Oregon, and Wisconsin, face challenges in the post-realignment landscape.
It’s time for the affluent institutions to separate, leaving schools like Vanderbilt, Baylor, Rutgers, and others behind.
They should form the superleague.
The remaining teams should join Division I-AA now FCS.
I think that's the best way to preserve the integrity of college football.
People do not want to spend their fall Saturday afternoons watching Eastern Washington University play Montana State followed by Louisiana Tech playing S.E. Vermont School for the Gender Neutral.
They want to turn on the TV and watch Ohio State v. USC and Texas v. Michigan.
Now that the players are "pros", it's different. It's no longer about rooting for your alma matter.
Is there a gentleman’s agreement to not have the colleges compete with the NFL on game days? Saturdays are for college but the NFL encroaches on Sundays. I wouldn’t mind seeing some decent college games on Tue/Wed. Even Thursday when you have to pay extra for Amazon Prime.
We'll see. The NBA had their "bud light" moment and never truly recovered. It's possible that College Football may have killed the golden goose.
I’m getting sick of this crap. They’ve ruined college football. It’s all about the almighty dollar. Loyalty means NOTHING. I don’t see how any conservative can support what’s going on.
Not really for me. I want to see the Alma maters play— the schools I and family members attended. But the sports entertainment industry doesn’t rely on folks like me, I know.
Pay the athletes more!

Last year the University of Texas athletic program had ~$165 million in revenue, Georgia had $155 million while Vanderbilt had $~33 million and West Virginia had ~$20 million.
The rich schools in the current conferences should not have to subsidize the less wealth.
The first major casualty was the Pacific Athletic Conference. ACC will follow soon.
If the game is entertaining or if it is a school I have an interest in then I will watch. The one rivalry game that I always watch is the Saturday night USC versus Norte Dame game.
I like that in each conference, there were rivalries like Oregon vs Oregon St, UCLA vs USC, etc. Now that PAC is gone, you're not going to see rivalries like that anymore.

The current college football conference system is pure socialism.
Michigan and Ohio State finance the Big 10, Georgia and Alabama finance the SEC and Texas and Oklahoma financed the Big 12.
Why should the University of Texas keep West Virginia afloat and why should Michigan keep Rutgers afloat?
The NCAA is simply a system of wealth redistribution.
