For the non-wealthy it's not really a problem, and wealthy people still have substantial estate and gift tax exemptions.

Actually, I wasn’t aware of it until recently when my prescription plan automatically enrolled me in Medicare Part D. I reversed it when I realized what happened but the government squeezed another month’s premium from my soc sec check.
