US warned Russia that imminent terror attack would be on Crocus City Hall two weeks before Isis gunmen struck but Putin dismissed caution as a bid to 'destabilize our society'

US officials warned Russia that an imminent terror attack would happen on Moscow's Crocus City Hall two weeks before Isis gunmen struck but Putin dismissed the caution as a bid to 'destabilize our society'.

Intelligence agencies had gathered information that ISIS was planning an attack in Moscow and even identified Crocus City Hall as a potential target, a fact that had not been reported until now.

But Russian president Putin dismissed the warnings as 'provocative', calling them 'outright blackmail' and a bid to 'intimidate and destabilize our society' just three days before the gunmen killed more than 140 people in the venue.

Moscow claims that the US warnings were 'too general' to prevent the attack, which has now been contradicted by US officials as they named Crocus City Hall as a potential target, according to The Washington Post.

Sergei Naryshkin, the head of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service, told reporters in Moscow that Russia 'took appropriate measures' to prevent an attack - despite it taking an hour for specialized police arriving at the venue after authorities were alerted around 8pm on March 22.

There was a police station not even 100 meters away from the concert hall yet it was over 90 minutes before they responded to the attack.

Who told them to stand down?

I say that because no cop I’ve ever known of would stay away from such a thing unless someone told them to stay away.

Color me skeptical.

Sort of like Newlan warning about the pipeline explosion.

They can’t determine when a terror attack is occurring here but in Russia, they can.

Palantir probably told the NSA about the threat, since it was mentioned OPENLY on Telegram, where the gunmen were apparently recruited. Putin is either angry because his own people are too stupid to do basic web scraping, paranoia, or he wanted it to happen for whatever reason.

You could say the same thing about October 7th in Israel. Took hours to respond over an even shorter distance. Honestly the younger generations are more distracted, use more drugs (rx or recreational), and are softer than ones of the past.

Ukrainian ‘Caliphate’: What the West prefers not to notice when blaming ISIS for the terrorist attack in Moscow

If Russia can get solid, unimpeachable proof that the Zelinski government is behind this attack then there is no way that any additional funding of the Ukraine regime will be made by the USA. That's just way too much even for the obsessives in the State Department to gloss over.

That, to me, actually argues that it's *NOT* the Ukrainians, the downside is so spectacular that no rational person would take the chance. But is Zelinski rational? What about his secret police and spy agencies? Are they fanatics or rational actors.

The problem is the US government is just plain not to be trusted, even if they told the truth this one time.

I predicted this as soon as Russians claimed "the information lacked sufficient details to act".

The public version of the warning was that the target was a concert in Moscow. That’s pretty specific and certainly actionable. The official communication was almost certainly more detailed, but even if it wasn’t, it was enough to be helpful. Reports (and video from security cameras) indicate there was absolutely zero security at the concert, despite warnings.

Russia downplaying our warning is more for domestic consumption. Same goes for blaming Ukraine. Russia is going after ISIS-K, while messaging to the public that Ukraine was somehow involved. "Never let a crisis go to waste". We play these same games, as does China and everyone else.

Oh, but we DO listen to Russia, which is why we support new nations' applications to join NATO. (They are also listening.) Russia assumes anything we say to them is a conspiracy of some sort, because everything inside Russia is part of some conspiracy or other. That's how politics has worked there since the 15th century.
