That Beyonce might have slightly reimagined the song is no capital crimeOf course it isn't, but it appears that she reduced lyrics rich in pathos and subtext into flat braggadocio. You may like the new version, but it doesn't compare as literature. It's more like a modern version of Loretta Lynn's "You Ain’t Woman Enough".

Take
a listen to the original medieval version compliments of Bardcore, lyrics by Hildegard von Blingen.

Bouncy is trash music. Her fame comes from stupid white people paying money to listen to her garbage singing and jiggle.
( yes, I know I misspelled her name )

Loretta would have gouged her eyes out. Jolene might stroll into Butcher Holler, but Jolene would never stroll out of Butcher Holler.

Is there anything more laughable than Beyonce donning fake cowboy clothes and putting out a "country" song with a ghetto flair?
Is anyone buying her cosplay country silliness?
And given the left's criticism of country/western music being overtly white isn't it cultural appropriation to inject herself and pretend she's one of them?

At best, on a good day Bouncy should be working in a titty bar.

Look all around. We’re in a pop culture bubble unless you intentionally exit it.

Nailed it.

Dolly has made more money often from other artists covering her songs than when she sang it.
She famously refused Elvis because he wanted more than 50% credit.
Beyonce has given sole writing crediting to Dolly. Dolly is going to make a ton of money on this version. Doubt it hits the level of money from Whitney’s “I will always love you” version.
I read where Dylan wanted Guns N Roses to do his song because he needed the money. I think GNR sold more copies.

Thanks for that. And, “pig-a-trottin”.

One of the many dirty secrets of the industry: how many supposed singer-songwriters just big-foot their names onto the credits.
