Same could be said of all those recruiters.

I have 2 part time workers, an 80 yearold and his 23 yearold grandson. One is great and the other one is as worthless as tits on a boar.

Gen Z is most likely to self-diagnose a mental disease or Autism which requires accommodations. They were pampered at home and expect the same at work.

It’s a good way to weed out people capable of independent thought.

He might want to check around with other local health systems, if there are any.

Some may have given up on the CoupFlu vaxx requirement.

BTW, MM, your hubby sounds like a great egg! :-)

I’m amazed at the amount of Can’tcer in them. When a Zoomer says “I can’t get out of bed in the AM”, they mean it. They think it is impossible. If you correct them “You won’t get up” , they become indignant. They blame their brain for things as if it is a separate entity. It’s not their fault, it is their brain’s fault.

Ever spent any time out of the US? There can be a difference, even among other Western cultures.

Not everyone everywhere is big on eye contact.

If employers don’t want to have to worry about it, stick to hiring Americans.

I suspect that has a lot to do with the demographics of that region.

It’s no surprise Gen Z kids are poor at interviews. They can’t look up from their phones long enough to make eye contact and provide a coherent response.

My own experience on the street (fixing bikes for instance) is that the attention span of youth (if you can obtain it) is about 3 seconds. Even if they asked a question. But while there are positives, I think the varied availability of instantaneous input (including entertainment) via electronic means, mainly Internet overload, has shortened attention span overall in this age, myself as well, if not focus on what interests, good or evil.

I once interviewed for a part time job as a pizza delivery guy. At the time I a VP of a large imprinted sportswear company, but I wanted to make some side cash for the holidays.

I could not get hired. One manager was finally honest with me and asked, “How do I know you won’t try to take my job?”

It finally dawned on me…these were incompetent people afraid of losing their jobs.

How many times do they not hire the old white guy because he will do a really good job?

Look how short a time the Greatest Generation were in the work force and how long they have been retired. Shortest and longest periods for each respectively of them all.

This is an interesting graph that can be studied a lot. I wonder just how accurate it is? It would be more interesting if the Y axis was actual numbers in the group instead of being apparently dimensionless.

Amazing.

How bad things are getting in the country. Everywhere you look…it’s systemic.

PS I even applied for entry level service jobs like hospital wheelchair pusher, couldn’t even get a call back. The only semi-offer I got was a valet but I realized the hours were crap and I would have to run a lot. I’m fit and all but my knees are not perfect, think I was 59 at the time. The idea of routinely trotting back and forth all day was not a good match for my knees. I mean a 10 dollars an hour job would not cover a knee replacement in 4years.

I did get another interview as a cardiac heart monitor. Even though I have A degree in science and the only mistake I can think of I made was I miss pronounced the word “defibrillation” I never got a call back.

All the other applications and phone calls (I’d say 2 dozen) NADA. Some of them shocked me like a materials inspector …measure oil volumes in tank cars etc. I am extremely proficient in metrics and conversions (or was 7 years ago), can do Chemistry molar calculations etc. and I couldn’t even get a reply for a job that required measuring basic level of fluids and recording the results. Like stick a measuring rod down a hole and record the level then multiply by a certain ratio to get gallons. Stuff that’s almost insulting for A bachelors in physical sciences degree person.

Don’t ask questions (36%)

Good indicator of a company that you dont really want to work for.

Look, no one is yet hiring a GenZ to lead an engineering department or putting one in charge of reattempting multimillion projects that have previously failed where detailed questions about the task are important to understand before taking the job.

“Hamburger Flipper” entails flipping the *$)@*&$ hamburger. If you are worthy of hiring then you should understand that without further questions. If you, as a GenZ, feel you have deep meaningful questions about the diversity ratios represented in the company management before taking the job then you are the one I dont want to hire because it leads to the other problems.

“Mmm, OK. But what about the origin story of the founder of this organization? Was she escaping oppression?”

“It doesnt make a difference. You are the janitor. Get to mopping or find work elsewhere.”

If your GenZ employees are quitting because they “didnt ask enough questions” to understand that in your organization a “hamburger flipper” needs to do rectal exams on living cattle then maybe the problem is the management of the company.

As surprising as it sounds, Ive run into this more than once. “We just cant find anyone to stay in this job.” “I have an idea, had you considered not lying to applicants?”

They were pampered at home and expect the same at work.

As I said, affliction and adversity are only two tests of character, both of a person and a nation with affluence being the test that few pass, as with the Greatest Generation" and which America is exampling.

The profound preeminent production capacity of the US during WW2 (see how ridiculous was American production in World War 2) had a recompense is the US becoming the unsurpassed superpower. With the rising only real competitive military threat being the Soviet Union (paradoxically much due to the West's wartime assistance to its Eastern ally), which actually accelerated technology

As a result, the West came to realize an unprecedented higher and higher standard of living, which unGodly pols used to buy votes and engage in a losing war with God. In particular, fostering the decline of the American black family (culture, nor color being the issue).

Part of this was the widespread adoption of birth control which was resulted in a the average American mother's first child being at age 30 (usually delayed for less financial strain, careers, no husband etc.), and woman having just 1.6 children on average, down from three in 1950, and significantly below the “replacement rate” of 2.1 children needed to sustain a stable population.

Which (aside from many in a welfare class) typically translates into many one or maybe two child families. And as relatively affluent, which works against learning to share, tolerate, interact, endure difficulties and thus build such character. And with media being the main "tutor. (Most kids btwn ages 5 to 14 have smart phones; 97% of kids used their phones during school hours, while nearly 60% used them between the hours of midnight and 5 a.m. on school nights - https://www.foxnews.com/health/cell-phone-shocker-97-percent-kids-use-device-during-school-hours-beyond-study).

Thus your statement, "pampered at home and expect the same at work" is a result of the West failing the test of prosperity. But which will come crashing down one day (soon i think). Nothing new

I found out that where I used to work they now have preferred pronouns at the bottom of every email. It’s a major corporation for crying out loud. I told my friend that still works there that if I was there, mine would be, “I’m XX. You figure it out.”

Yeah, regarding home depot: We only have Lowes in my small town. But I have been a “home handyman” for decades. If I were to work there I’d know the location of every item in the store (I practically already do), and have a lot of experience regarding product usage and what works best. Kinda like when I sold hi-fi back in the 70’s and won every sales contest.

Being unconverted, unregenerate, apart from Christ, without God, without marriage, without children, they not only lack that sense of purpose that normally comes with it, but being depressed, and unable to cope, they tragically imagine that self-murder is the answer. To their eternal regret.

...unfiltered access to the news for most of their lives, which can lead to stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues...

Darn shame; can't deal with real life...

And the news they read is not FR, and do not believe the Good News of the gospel.,

However, there is always employment in the kingdom of God for those who come clean before Him for actual sins, effectually believing in the Divine Son who saves sinners by His sinless shed blood. The ultimate antidote, thank God.

Exactly. I read James this morning. He has something to say about being “friends of the world”.
