U.S. Jake Paul, 27, to fight 57-year-old Mike Tyson live on Netflix: "Time to put Iron Mike to sleep" Updated on: March 7, 2024 / 12:28 PM EST / CBS/AP
Social media star-turned-boxer Jake Paul will fight former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Texas, Netflix announced Thursday.
The streaming platform will provide live coverage of the bout between the 27-year-old Paul and 57-year-old Tyson, who hasn't fought since he and Roy Jones Jr. met in a 2020 exhibition that ended as a draw.
A short video trailer posted by Netflix shows Paul getting off a helicopter on a rooftop and then coming face to face with Tyson.

How old was Foreman when he won the title the 2nd time around, 45?
Couldn’t move much but could still hit like a freight train.
Dempsey was in his 70’s when 2 punks tried to rob him, didn’t turn out so well for the punks.
Never underestimate someone who was at that skill level.
Is Mike this desperate for money? Sad to see. Anyway, I vaguely hope he destroys the YouTube idiot, but not anywhere near enough to pay to see it.
Fight at Trump Casino...bet he regrets that.
He probably regrets Trump being on an episode of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’.
Good fight. I seem to remember watching this fight and thinking, “George, why are you doing this?”. It was CERTAIN he was going to get floored. Boy was I wrong.
Everybody needs a side hustle nowadays. Driving the Caddy wagon sounds like a pretty good deal - you know your customer will NEVER tell you to hurry up!
I suggest he tape his ears down like they do in Rugby.
Tyrone Woodley was never a professional boxer of any sort. This was a money grab without a doubt.
This is insane, Mike Tyson has that old man strength now. He won’t be wasting his punches.
The punch is the last thing that goes in a boxer, so Foreman and Dempsey do not surprise that they still had their punch.
Endurance, for Tyson, is the issue. He was never a good endurance boxer. If he was to win many of his fights, he had to wrap up in 6 rounds. That still likely will be how it is for him. If Paul can manage to dodge for 6 rounds, the advantage could go to him.
I think you’ll be surprised.
He was a UFC Champion. You have zero evidence of him taking a dive for money.
This isn’t a fight, it’s a money promotion. Tyson said he would not come back to fight unless it guarenteed him $50 million in his pocket and only if the event broke all the records of pay per views.
Paul is in over his head unless the promoters want him to get out unhurt. It is far more a show than anything else. Tyson was a pro and has a lot of knowledge Paul does not have. This is not Rocky Balboa. That was a story. If this was real Paul would be driven into the ropes in the first round and destroyed. Tyson would want to go home as soon as possible. And Tyson knows what he’s doing and Paul has no say in it. It’s not two bulls hitting heads. Boxing is a science, not a gang war.

When Iron Mike finishes with Jake Paul he will look like a bloodied Rue Paul.
I was hoping...
Netflix is such garbage, just like Paul. They will take a few hits, skip around the ring, and call it a draw just like the Roy Jones jr fight.
I believe this will be an “exhibition” fight. Don’t expect a real boxing match.
I wouldn’t expect one, no matter what. One is a professional boxer, one is a YouTuber.
I’m sure Jake has a plan for Mike.
“Everyone has a plan: until they get punched in the face”
– Mike Tyson.
For much of Tyson’s career, this was pretty much the case. When boxers felt Mike’s power, you could see it in their eyes.
Mike Tyson was never just a brute however much he looked like one. He had skill coming out his ears. Remember that he could nail at will and from the getgo fighters who had up to eight inches of reach advantage. Remember the three and five punch combinations that came in at unreal speed and ferocity. Remember that Mike Tyson did something that many young people have to learn to do: Study the past and learn all that you can from it. When he entered the ring as a nineteen year old he knew more about the strategy and tactics employed by the greats going back a hundred years than probably any one else except perhaps Cus.
Tyson is no moron and he’s no slob he was cerebral when it came to his craft. He knows he’s 57. He’s gonna come out with that peek-a-boo thing he used to to. He’s gonna take his opponents reach and speed measure, then he’s gonna nail him. And I doubt even at his age that he is at all enfeebled in the matter of punching force.
We have t even discussed the close in body assault he was so terrifyingly good at. And terrifying is the word forTyson . Against most 57 year olds 27 is a distinct advantage. Against the most terrifying, schooled and thinking, physically imposing and talented fighter perhaps of all time 27 ain’t all that it might sound like in other circumstances.
