In December 1966, David Bowie's manager, Kenneth Pitt, acquired an acetate of the then-unreleased The Velvet Underground & Nico and presented it to Bowie. Upon hearing "I'm Waiting for the Man", he went to his band at the time, the Buzz, and told them they were going to learn it: "We learned 'Waiting for the Man' right then and there and we were playing it on stage within a week." He later recalled in an 2003 interview with Vanity Fair: "Amusingly, not only was I to cover a Velvets song before anyone else in the world, I actually did it before the album came out.

I was reading an interview with Keith Richards in a magazine and in the interview Keith Richards intimated that kids should not do drugs. Keith Richards! Says that kids should not do drugs!

Keith, we can’t do any more drugs because you already f——g did them all, alright? There’s none left! We have to wait ‘til you die and smoke your ashes! Talk about the pot and the f——n’ kettle.

What amazes me is how good Ron Wood actually looks, and he could go toe-to-toe with Keith on the drugs and drink.

Indeed. By and large, British folks’ looks don’t age well, especially if they’ve had a tough life. All the old Stones are starting to look like hell on roller skates, but they’re still cooking. I’ve always thought Ron Wood was under-appreciated; very glad to see he’s still with us, and as you say, he’s still smiling.
