Tuberculosis (TB) cases are on the rise, fuelling fears England may see a resurgence of the Victorian-era illness.
UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) figures show 4,850 people were struck by the bacterial infection, spread by coughing, in 2023 — marking a rise of almost 11 per cent on the previous year.
This is despite 2022 being a bumper year for TB. It marked only the third time cases of the infection have increased nationally over the past decade.

With new multiplex pcr I have seen positive mycobacterium Tuberculosis. Until Covid we never had a lab test for this except cultures and some wired TB blood tests that aren’t done in most labs. Myco can take six weeks or longer to grow in a culture and I know very little about the esoteric lab tuberculosis test used for pre employment as a replacement for the TB skin prick. So having a pcr test is a big improvement, but they are prone to false positives.
As far as the article, hey syphillis is back, why not TB.. and of course I read something about bubonic plague.
After coming back from Desert Storm...for an overseas assignment, I got TB-tested...positive. Hadn’t advanced much...did around 8 months of pills. At the time, I asked the AF doctor...was it rare to see? He said he had around three people a month get a positive test in that year after Desert Storm.

My cough is COPD; no room for TB.
Some of my forebears were not allowed entry into the US and sent back to Europe because of TB.
Now, there is unrestrained invasion of the US by those carrying every disease we irradicated. Some of the diseases are drug resistant.
