I liked having a purpose in life, really helping people..but my work as an RN on a busy acute care hospital floor where the RN's do the primary care was just too much ....constant physical work....I had to stop....

but I wish I was still working....

You could retool and do something else, like a nutritionist.

If your job gets too much, then it's time to stop and retire.

There are plenty of other jobs where you can be productive but it's not as demanding.

Wal-Mart is always hiring. Just saying.

Look for a job that is a natural extension of your experience as an RN. My late aunt, also an RN, became an administrator of nurses at her hospital, and later the key professional reviewing complaints against nurses for the state medical licensing board. There are health insurance companies, hospitals, casualty insurers, and even large plaintiff’s law firms who may be eager for someone with your experience to assess personnel and claims and to review medical files.

I hear ya. I owned and operated a small mortgage brokerage business for 17 years. The stress was so bad if I hadn’t retired I would have died from a stroke. Tending chickens and a garden can be quite stimulating. 😉
