Space junk breaks up like that, and is always coming in at a low angle.

My guess is space junk, dead satellite, etc.

It lasted too long to be an ordinary meteor, unless it was an unusually large one, in which case it would have been spotted by NASA or amateur astronomers........................

Maybe it is time to re-read “Lucifer’s Hammer” by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle.

Space junk, based on the slow speed.

That orbit path is odd though. The U.S. launches East or N. East, and S. West.

This would have to have been injected into an orbit to the N. West. and I don't know who does that.

These two events happened on the same day as the Near-Earth Asteroid fly by. What timing

Everyone launches east, northeast, or southeast, so they can take advantage of the earth’s rotation.

There’s a lot of crap flying around out there. One time, years ago, I was sitting in the early evening dark, after a day of hunting. I noticed a light in the sky getting brighter, but not noticeably moving. Then it went away. All I can figure is that it was a meteorite headed straight at me.

Was fortunate enough to see a fireball one evening- they are pretty cool to see. If I hadn’t been a smoker at the time, I woulda missed it. Had to smoke outdoors, and just lit the cigg and looked up to the sky to see it cross over the sky-

Cool. I live under near-constant cloud cover, it seems. Thus far this morning, I’ve seen Jupiter, and I’m hoping to see the sun.

Having supported launches from VAFB, CA for 14 years, I suggest you do some homework.

They launch S. West to achieve orbit over the poles.

Yes, escape velocity requirements go from 17,500 mph to over 21,000 mph.
