A neighbor “died suddenly” last week. A friend set up a fundraiser for them. His widow told my wife that the few thousand dollars will take a lot of heat off while they’re working out insurance, pensions etc. Plus a funeral for a 14 year old is the very definition of an unexpected expense.
Plus, people just want to help in tragedy. The family can only eat so many casseroles.

And it’s up to $47,000. Good for the community coming together. But the goal was $15,000 which is reasonable for a funeral. Unless the family is going to donate the money over and above 15k, then that just seems wrong to me.
