Going on its maiden voyage, eh? I hope they learn something from the Titanic’s story and have enough life boats on it...
I had the same thought.
Srednik believes “Icon” to be a religious term — a painting or mosaic on a Bible theme.
As a student of maritime matters, Srednik recalls the designer of the TITANIC saying “Even God could not sink this ship,” a tragic statement.
I pray the LORD God is not offended by ICON OF THE SEAS.
We were on the maiden voyage of the Oasis of the Seas (after many other cruise on other ships) and it is almost the same size - and hard to imagine.
Truly a floating CITY. Almost beyond comprehension.
Favorite cruise ever on a 600 passenger ship in Med, also a maiden voyage. Tiny by comparison, but best cruise ever.
The Oasis was a bit scary - cannot imagine surviving any major emergency.......
I’m sailing on it next week, on their first tour of the western Caribbean.
Can’t wait !!
It won’t have 7600 passengers. More likely around 5000-5500. 7600 is just the maximum capacity. Like, if EVERY cabin had the maximum number of people. That’s not what happens. Most cabins just have 2.
