If you listen to Cori Bush’s speech around the 19 min mark she stutters several times over words with more than 3 syllables.

Remove it. So what? The left has been removing statues that hurt their widdle feewings for a few years now. They always go on about the Statue of Liberty as if it would really shut us up to even consider removing it. I say let them remove it if they promise to then STFU. Better yet, keep it, and tell them to STFU anyway.
Year Zero in the “Man in the High Castle” miniseries. Melt down the Liberty Bell and cast a Swastika from it while they are at it.
Because I want to see how many in their party will rally around this, not realizing that their party leaders know it's an absurd idea that they are pushing to make some ridiculous "point".
The Dems will be unprepared for what they wrought. Like the look on the party Chairman's face at the Dem convention when they had to take a vote to amend their platform to add God to it, and God was booed.
(The Chairman declared that the yeas outvoice the nays and God was added. Anyone watching could tell you that the nays were louder, though the cameras didn't show if they were more numerous.)

Problem is the statue was specifically created to celebrate AMERICA and its INDEPENDENCE, its FIGHT for FREEDOM WON.
Yes, it was inspiring to immigrants, but that was not the purpose - it was to celebrate America, not the people moving here. Welcoming, yes, but declarative that this is a great place.
America wouldn’t look like it does if Germany and Japan won.
I saw the clip yesterday. Wasn’t he saying that the GOP wants to remove the Statue of Liberty? I mean, it was generally a non-sensical rant. But I gathered that he was accusing the REPUBLICANS (and their anti-immigration policies) of wanting to remove the statue of liberty.
They could at least get rid of the stupid poem.

For example, we shut off the forced immigration of British prisioners and workhouse inmates, causing England to ship them to found Australia.
We also shut off the importation of excess population that the African kings wanted to sell to slavers.
The Irish were not welcome in the 1840s.
Even during the most welcoming period after the Civil War there was a significant opposition by nativist, particularly against southern European Catholics and eastern Europeans.
