There had been plenty of anti-LBJ jokes flowing from (justified) opposition to the Vietnam War. Comics have ribbed all our presidents up until Obama. Now it’s all one sided and mean against Republicans.
I’m 53 and growing up my Grandma was just about my best friend, I didn’t watch what other kids were watching. I watched what grandma watched, so I have a soft spot for things a little older than my age. She loved the Smothers Brothers, and so do I!
As I got older, my conservative viewpoint was there. I remember writing a letter to President Carter when I was in about 5th grade, asking him not to cut the defense budget. Then as a teen, I could not stand the character of Henry Goldblum on Hill Street Blues. I hated his whiny, bleeding heart act.
So maybe this Smothers guy was a fine man, but my sense is that his professional schtick won't be missed.
All in the Family” was produced to shift the American population left a few points, under the guise of comedy. It worked.

I agree- The Smothers Brothers, All In the Family- I’m sure there were more, that nudged Americans to the Left. Norman Lear, Carrol O’Connor and Rob Reiner were NOT EVEN REMOTELY conservative.
I watch a lot more tv than you, and you are 100% right. There are minorities in every commercial. Even if they had 50% representation, I wouldn’t have a problem, but it’s way beyond that. Not only that, but commercials are starting to have dialogue first in English, THEN IN SPANISH, on English speaking channels, no less.
PLUS, commercials for a company that markets material for learning languages other than English. BULL💩! My grandparents, and everyone else’s had to learn English when they came here!
Our American Identity, and our sovereignty are being stolen from us, thanks to Joe Biden, Mayorkas, and even big corporations.
Tommy was a liberal asshle who pushed his politics on everyone at that time. Cosby was sick of him.
