I’ve never had a good Christmas, but I don’t hate it. I do like the bright colours and classic Christmas carols are amongst the finest pieces of music ever written.
I appreciate Christmas for that.
I used to love Christmas as a very young child, but our family was volatile and by the time I was 6 or 7 I started getting depressed and Christmas wasn’t the same. As an adult I love Christmas conceptually, but am never ready for it. I would prefer an extended period of reflection and renewal around Christmas, with the birthday of Christ in the middle - not the end of this period.
