Newton’s Third Law: states that for every action (force) in nature there is an equal and opposite reaction. This has been true in communications technology as well. As the internet expanded our ability to communicate with other like-minded individuals... bad actors took advantage of the new technologies as well. The result has actually been a net negative for freedom lovers everywhere. With the introduction of A.I. it is hard to say where this path will take us.
The problem is that the number of people who have the resources to wield huge amounts of influence has gotten smaller and smaller. Our beloved socialist, Bernie Sanders has said repeatedly that the two richest men in America Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk have more wealth than the bottom 40% of Americans combined. I have no idea if that is accurate, but it still highlights an issue that has become problematic. We have special interests made up of a very small number of people who have been lording over the rest of us with their own best interests in mind.
I think you are missing the order of things. Bad actors (our gov Deep State Intel apparatus) created and formed the Internet to mislead and control the masses. The last four years have seen the flowering of their efforts domestically from elections to the illusion of a dangerous pandemic, created by operatives like Malone.
