This question especially comes from people struggling to improve eating habits or reach their weight loss goals and wonder if the ham is healthy as a main course choice.

So what even is ham? This cut of pork, normally taken from a pig’s upper hind leg, is often sold cured. This can be either wet-cured or dry-cured ham. Some purchase it smoked for added flavor. Either way, it is mostly purchased after being cooked and ready to eat

When I was a kid, always had ham for Christmas dinner, except for a prosperous year, we had prime rib.

Why is ham so hated?

What are you supposed to say when you sit down to an Easter ham, “Dear Lord, bless this mess and damn this ham”?

Honestly, people actually worry about things like this and write such articles?

I eat what I want, eat a balanced diet, hardly ever eat junk food, eat the meat I feel like eating, and ignore all this crap.

When I lived in Florida a close friend of mine introduced me to something he called “country ham”. I had no idea of how it was prepared but it was by far the best ham I ever had.

I don’t hate it. Just started thawing the Christmas ham, which we’ll bake with a jalapeno glaze. In the following days, we’ll have ham sandwiches, ham salad, Denver omelets, and finally a big pot of either navy bean or split-pea soup.

Growing up on a farm and raising hogs, we ate ham. We also ate hog jowls, the cheek of a hog, cured like bacon. Darn fine eating for breakfast with eggs and some horseradish. Aw yes, life on the farm! Here muslim, I got something you’ll really like to eat. Sorry, shouldn’t have written that last part.
