The NHL and NHL Players’ Association are investigating a gap in protocol which resulted in Arizona Coyotes defenseman Juuso Valimaki lingering in a Dallas hospital for hours without care last month with a severe facial injury after taking a 93 mph slap shot to the mouth against the Stars.
Valimaki, 25, was transported to a Dallas hospital by ambulance from American Airlines Center after an undeflected point shot from countryman Jani Hakanpaa drilled him in the face on Nov. 14.
Sources told Daily Faceoff that Valimaki was dropped off in the emergency room, like any other patient, and left to advocate for his own care with his wife – who happened to be in Dallas at the road game – and a Coyotes team employee. After initial observation, the overworked Dallas hospital staff told Valimaki to find a local hotel and come back in the morning, that their attention was turned toward more critical incoming trauma patients such as gunshot victims.

Marty Walsh front and center.
OMG, I wonder which hospital. Guessing Parkland, but back in the day they had a terrific trauma unit. Ok, that was about 40 years ago, but still. Stunned.
OMG...ouch.
Did the doctor order a CT? Things like a subdural hematoma can take hours to develop. Was the attending ENT or oral surgeon called? How about neurology?
I got 10$ that it’s Parkland Hospital.
World’s worst (Gov run)
You’re White so please step to the back of the line.
Our first priority is to treat the peoples of other colors and illegal migrants that are shooting each other.
Sounds like they dumped him out at Parkland. That’s where you go if you’ve been shot, cut, in a bad car accident, or can’t pay. Adjacent is Clements, for folks that can pay for the best care available. (Also in the complex is the cancer hospital). Should have caught a cab to Baylor or Presbyterian.
I don't know. A little over 60 years ago they had a shooting victim show up, and they didn't do much good with him. Hear his nephew is currently running for president.
LOL. Sad but true.
Those who pay to be afforded medical treatment as productive earners contributing to society are the last served. We care, we vote, and don’t care to be any further enslaved and brainwashed. We don’t fit their agenda.
What a disgusting story!
Sad for the young man but so many questions, many involving care by the team.
Just at a glance, it seems there are many grounds to sue a lot of people here.
Horrible, just horrible!!!
Yes, there are all different levels of gunshot wounds. Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. was shot in the leg before last season and was able to come back and play the full season.
Disgusting lack of care by the hospital.
ER’s are overrun with people, mostly illegals, using them as doctors’ offices for regular medical care/treatment. I’ve been an ER patient twice. Once after an automobile accident, and once after a cycling wreck. Both on weekends, both just really needing (in one case, a lot of) stitches (concussion, too, with car deal...). Both times the places were packed with ill ‘immigrants’ and their sick children. Yet another example of how society ‘pays’ for their conduct, and our government’s refusal to solve the problem.
