What does “medium complexion” mean?
Not white.
Probably taken from the police report.
More and more PD’s are requiring officers to be “more specific” in their reports. Rather than saying “African American”, they’re supposed to say “light, medium or dark skinned” along with the race of the suspect, which can actually be useful in identifying the suspect, but which is inevitably used by defense counsel in less than honest ways. Which is the real point of requiring that on the report.
Omitting the race of the suspect is probably the work of the news outlet’s style book though.
