Nope! Only about a third on that list.

We are Devo!

When I was in college, in the cafe in in the student union, there was a jukebox with the song “Mongoloid” on it by Devo - it was played constantly, seemed like every time I went past or was in there, that song would be playing:

“He was a Mongoloid, Mongoloid
His friends were unaware
Mongoloid, he was a Mongoloid
Nobody even cared.”

I can still hear it to this day...

SiriusXM does these all the time but at least they let listeners vote and just tabulate the results.

56. Bonnie Tyler - ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’

This will never stop being funny to me. Especially since the singer in this parody sounds a lot like Bonnie Tyler.

The name of the site is smoothradio so I assume the choice leans towards the bland easy listening stuff.

Gonna speak up for Georgia bands. No Black Crowes? Was there any REM in there? Heck, Guadalcanal Diary had better songs than the majority the songs on the list.

Lots of great music, and although many rue the current musical output, there is still a lot more at hand and on the horizon.

The gatekeepers, though, are not as powerful as they once were. The experience of hearing a good, new song is highly subjective like a good book or a good joke.

I have often been enlightened by others when introduced to new music. I have also been pleasantly surprised at how age tempers opinion. Songs I used to hate, like foods I used to hate, have gained an appeal I never would have anticipated.

Weather Report and Steely Dan. Jazz and blues. Classical. A little Van Halen. The palette is wide, and will always be so. A gift from Above.

They included Robert Palmer’s “Addicted to Love”, but totally left off his, “Simply Irresistible”, which was a much better song/video.

For those who have forgotten it, here it is:
