(Excerpt) Read more at youtube.com ...
It's Chistmas season, and this song has become classic.
John Lennon was only like that for a few years, then he went back.
You’d torture the good people of Free Republic with the screeching of Yoko Ono?
What about the war in Georgia? Why are we ignoring the nation-building there? Yemen, Azerbaijan?
This is a classic Christmas song, I have many cover versions of it as well.
(Xmas)
No......
Not X
Lol!
She's not a bad singer however, as "Kiss, Kiss, Kiss" from Double Fantasy can attest.
Wasn’t that song she made to insult John Lennon?
Why are you taking CHRIST out of CHRISTmas with Xmas?
“Why are you taking CHRIST out of CHRISTmas with Xmas?”
Not that I disagree...
It is an interesting statement especially since Christmas is held during the winter solstice which was a pagan holiday and not associated with the birth of Christ.
That is not a Christmas song. It mentions Christmas but that is about it. I think it denigrates traditional Christmas. When it comes on I turn it off unless it is broadcast in a store and then I tune it out as best I can. Otherwise I have to endure it as torture. Fortunately it is only a few minutes.
Gag me.
Gag me with a spoon.
Let’s hear “And Your Bird Can Sing”...or “In My Life”. His best work.
Gag me with a spoon.
*******
Exactly.
I like “Instant Karma”.
According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, the word Christmas originates from the phrase “Cristes Maesse”, first recorded in 1038, which means the Mass of Christ or Christ's Mass
I used to be a John Lennon fan, but now I can’t stand the sight of his face. Particularly in The Beatles later “arty” period, his voice often had an insolent, narny-narny quality that I find repulsive.
