Out here in the country we have more and more issues with drivers just dumping packages at the road and not driving them in the 300 foot driveway. Gate is always wide open.
Increased theft risk as we don’t even know something is left for us.
We’ve resorted at times to modify the address label. We don’t use driver instructions area as they are ignored.
We make the second address line show the following ...
Rather than apartment number info for many we do all caps
‘DO NOT LEAVE AT ROAD’
We have that SAME issue.
We’ve even given specific instructions, on their (delivery companie) websites ... AND ... even had a yard sign made, installed right where they pitch the packages ... to please take them up to house, when gate is OPEN.

I’m rural too, and we leave our gate shut most of the time. Even when it’s open, though, they just dump stuff by the gate. This is true even if “signature required”.
One thing you CAN do is sign up with FedEx and UPS and get text messages when something is shipped to your address. I find that very helpful — I know what day it’s supposed to arrive, and I get a text within a few minutes of them dropping it at the gate.
“issues with drivers just dumping packages at the road”
I live in the suburbs, not the country, and had a mailman leave a package next to my mailbox out at the curb a couple of months ago instead of walking 20ft more. I called USPS to report it. The woman I spoke to was very surprised and promised she would report the driver. Haven’t had any problems since, but I think he was just a temporary vacation fill-in worker. My regular guy is fine at his job, but not friendly at all.
I’ve had this happen on my short driveway!
I had an expensive piece of furniture dumped at the end of my driveway right on the sidewalk - then the truck drove off!
Fortunately, I was home and had a construction crew here at the time - they were furious. If no one had been here, I doubt the package would have been there when I got home, there are scavengers all over my town.
There have been other packages dumped at the end of my driveway as well.
I’ve complained but the businesses tell me the shipping is through another company.
This just happened to me with some medicines shipped to me by Express-Scripts. Right on the highway. I actually saw the UPS truck driving off... Chased him but he got away.
I do not trust the USPS to do anything other than steal packages and transport/deliver fake ballots for the Democrat Party. I just had an electronic controller disappear and yet it was input into their computers as delivered. We have a small and very safe neighborhood. The company from which I bought the controller accused me of trying to get a free item but shipped me an other anyway.
My last problem with UPS was earlier this year I made a purchase of some ammo from a retailer in my state. It showed up a day late and the box was torn open and re-taped. when I opened the box it had only 100 rounds of the 500 I had ordered. When I called the store they were concerned and told me this was not the first time this year. They immediately sent me 400 rounds.
